Missed ESD appointment deadline - filed weekly claim anyway - will I lose benefits?
Just had a mini heart attack. Found an ESD letter stuffed in my car floorboard (don't ask...) saying I needed to schedule some kind of appointment by April 26th. The letter's been sitting there for who knows how long! I just filed my weekly claim on Sunday like normal, but now I'm freaking out about this missed appointment. Will ESD automatically reschedule me? Will my benefits stop while I wait for a new letter? Has anyone dealt with missed appointment deadlines? Not sure if I should call them or wait for them to contact me. Really can't afford to miss payments right now.

•Crap, that's what I was afraid of! Did they make you restart the whole process or were they understanding about it?

You need to call ESD immediately. This was likely an Eligibility Review Interview appointment, which is mandatory to continue receiving benefits. When you miss these appointments, they typically place your claim on hold until you contact them and reschedule. The sooner you call, the better chance you have of minimizing payment disruptions. Bring your claim ID number and the letter when you call if possible. They'll want to know exactly what type of appointment you missed.

•YES THIS!! I went through this exact thing in January. My letter got delivered to my old address and I missed the appointment. They stopped my payments for THREE WEEKS until I could get it sorted out. Call first thing tomorrow morning!!!

I've been calling ESD for two days straight and keep getting disconnected!!! Anyone know a better way to reach them? I'm about to drive to their office at this point.

•I had the same problem reaching ESD when I missed an adjudication interview. I finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of waiting on hold forever or getting disconnected. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it to get my claim fixed without spending days trying to reach someone.

What your letter is describing sounds like an Eligibility Review Interview (ERI). These are random checks ESD does to verify you're still meeting eligibility requirements. Missing it won't automatically disqualify you, but they will likely put your claim on hold until you reschedule. Here's what you should do: 1. Call the ESD claims center at 800-318-6022 as soon as possible 2. Explain you just found the letter and missed the appointment unintentionally 3. Ask to reschedule the appointment 4. Continue filing your weekly claims even if payments pause Depending on your claim status, you might see a "disqualification" or "adjudication in progress" status online. Don't panic - this is normal until you reschedule the appointment and complete the interview. Most agents are understanding about these situations as long as you're proactive about fixing it.

•Thank you so much for the detailed info! I'll definitely keep filing weekly claims while this gets sorted out. I've heard horror stories about people missing a week and having to restart their whole claim. Filing right now feels pointless since nothing is getting paid, but I'll keep doing it.

The ESD system is RIGGED to make people fail!! They deliberately mail these notices late or send them to old addresses so they can deny benefits. I had FOUR different appointment letters last year and each one came AFTER the appointment date had already passed!!! How convenient for them! Then they blame YOU for missing appointments. It's all part of their plan to save money by denying claims on technicalities.

•While I understand your frustration, there's no evidence ESD deliberately sends late notices. Mail delays happen, and sometimes contact information isn't updated in their system. The best approach is to make sure your address is current in eServices and check your online portal regularly for notifications. They actually post most appointment requirements online before sending paper notices.

•Haha at least I'm not the only one! My mail organization system is basically non-existent. Dog toy basket is a new one though 😂

Just wanted to follow up - were you able to get through to ESD and reschedule your appointment? Your payments might be on hold until you complete the interview, but they should resume (including any missed weeks) once you satisfy the requirement. Let us know how it turned out!

•Finally got through this morning after trying that Claimyr service someone mentioned. They said my benefits are on hold but I can get them reinstated after completing the interview. The agent was actually pretty understanding! They rescheduled me for next Tuesday and said as long as I keep filing weekly claims, I'll receive all the missed payments once the interview is done. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help.
