How to get unemployment PIN number for Washington ESD account access
I'm trying to access my Washington ESD unemployment account but I don't have a PIN number. I filed my initial claim last month but never received any PIN in the mail or email. When I try to log into the secure portal, it asks for a PIN that I don't have. I've searched through all my paperwork and emails but can't find anything about a PIN. How do I get this PIN number so I can file my weekly claims? I'm worried I'm going to miss my filing deadline.

The PIN should have been mailed to you within 7-10 business days after you filed your initial claim. Check your mail carefully - it comes in a plain white envelope that's easy to miss. If you moved recently or have any address issues, that could be why you didn't receive it.

•I've been checking my mail every day for weeks. Nothing has come. My address is correct on my claim too.

•Same thing happened to me. Took almost 3 weeks to get mine in the mail. Washington ESD mail is really slow sometimes.

You need to call Washington ESD customer service to request a new PIN. The number is 800-318-6022. They can verify your identity and either tell you your PIN over the phone or mail a new one. Make sure you have your Social Security number and other claim information ready when you call.

•I've been trying to call that number for days but can never get through. It just says high call volume and hangs up on me.

•That's the worst part about dealing with Washington ESD - you can never reach anyone on the phone! I've wasted hours trying to get through.

I had this exact same problem last year. After weeks of trying to call, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helps you get through to Washington ESD agents. They have this system that keeps calling for you until they connect you to a real person. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. It saved me so much time and frustration.

•Is this legit? I'm desperate at this point but don't want to get scammed.

•Yeah it's totally legitimate. I was skeptical too but it actually worked. Got connected to a Washington ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending hours redialing.

•I used Claimyr too when I had PIN issues. Worth every penny to avoid the endless busy signals.

Did you try the online account recovery option? Sometimes you can reset your PIN through the SecureAccess Washington website if you have enough identifying information.

•I tried that but it says I need to call because there's an issue with my account verification.

•The online reset only works if you've successfully logged in before. Since you never got your original PIN, you'll need to call.

This is exactly why I hate dealing with government agencies. They make everything so complicated and then you can't even reach them when you need help!

•I feel your pain. The whole unemployment system is a nightmare to navigate.

•True but once you get your PIN it gets easier. The weekly claims are pretty straightforward.

Make sure you're calling first thing in the morning right when they open at 8 AM. That's when you have the best chance of getting through. Also try calling on Tuesday or Wednesday - Mondays are always crazy busy.

•Good tip, I'll try calling Tuesday morning at 8 AM sharp.

•I second this. I got through on a Wednesday morning around 8:15 AM after trying for weeks.

When you do get through, ask them to verify your mailing address. Sometimes there are small errors in the address that cause mail to get lost. They can update it and send a new PIN to the correct address.

•That's a good point. I'll double-check my address with them when I call.

•Also ask them to put a note on your account about the PIN issue so if you have to call back they know what's going on.

Just wanted to update - I finally got through using that Claimyr service someone mentioned. The agent was really helpful and gave me my PIN over the phone after verifying my identity. Turns out there was a typo in my address that was causing the mail to get returned. All fixed now!

•Glad Claimyr worked for you too! It's such a relief when you finally get connected to someone who can actually help.

For anyone else having this issue, you can also visit a WorkSource office in person if you can't get through by phone. They can help you with PIN issues and other account problems.

•Good suggestion but not all WorkSource offices handle unemployment issues. Call first to make sure they can help with PIN problems.

•The WorkSource in my area doesn't do unemployment stuff anymore. They told me I had to call Washington ESD directly.

Don't forget that you have to file your weekly claims even if you're having PIN issues. You can file them late but you need to do it as soon as you get your PIN to avoid any payment delays.

•That's what I was worried about. How late can you file without losing benefits?

Andre Dupont
•You have to file within 4 weeks of the week you're claiming. After that you might lose those benefits permanently.

•Actually I think you can still file late claims but you have to provide a good reason. PIN issues would definitely qualify as good cause.
