How long does it take to get money from Washington ESD unemployment after approval?
My Washington ESD claim was finally approved last Friday after being in adjudication for 2 weeks. The website says my payment is 'issued' but I still haven't seen any money in my bank account. How long does it usually take to actually receive the unemployment payment after Washington ESD says it's issued? I'm getting really anxious because rent is due this week and I was counting on this money.

usually takes 1-2 business days after they say issued, but sometimes longer if there's banking delays or holidays

•Thank you! I was starting to panic. It's only been 2 business days so I guess I should wait a bit more.

•Check if you set up direct deposit correctly in your Washington ESD account. Sometimes payments get delayed if there's an issue with banking info.

For Washington ESD, payments are typically processed within 1-3 business days after showing as 'issued' status. Direct deposit is usually faster than debit card payments. Make sure your banking information is correct in your SecureAccess Washington account. If it's been more than 5 business days, you should contact Washington ESD to check for any payment holds.

•I did set up direct deposit when I first filed. Should I double-check those details somewhere in my account?

•Yes, log into your Washington ESD account and check under 'Payment Information' to verify your bank details are correct.

I had the same issue last month - my payment was stuck for almost a week even though it said issued. Turns out I had to call Washington ESD to get it sorted out but their phone lines are IMPOSSIBLE to get through. I literally spent 6 hours calling and kept getting hung up on. Finally found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an actual person at Washington ESD. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. Definitely worth checking out if you can't reach them directly.

•Oh wow, 6 hours of calling sounds horrible! I've been dreading having to call them. How much does that Claimyr service cost?

•I don't remember the exact cost but it was totally worth it compared to wasting entire days trying to call. They got me connected within like 30 minutes.

•Wait, you have to pay a service just to talk to Washington ESD? That seems wrong... but honestly after my own nightmare with their phone system, I get it.

THE WASHINGTON WA UNEMPLOYMENT SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! I've been waiting 3 WEEKS for my payment and they keep giving me the runaround. This is ridiculous - people need this money to survive!

•I feel your frustration but yelling probably won't help. Have you tried checking if there are any outstanding issues on your claim?

•Three weeks is definitely too long. There might be an adjudication issue or identity verification problem holding up your payment.

The timing can vary depending on several factors: 1) If this is your first payment, it often takes longer due to additional verification steps. 2) Bank processing times vary - some banks hold unemployment deposits longer than regular deposits. 3) If you filed your weekly claim late or missed the deadline, it can delay processing. 4) Any flags on your account for job search verification or work reporting can hold up payments. Check your Washington ESD account for any pending issues or messages.

•This is my first payment, so that might explain the delay. I don't see any messages or issues in my account though.

•First payments always take longer in my experience. Mine took 5 business days when I first got approved.

depends on your bank too - some banks process faster than others

•I'm with Chase, do you know if they're usually fast or slow with unemployment deposits?

•Chase is usually pretty quick, 1-2 days in my experience

I remember when I first got approved it felt like forever waiting for that first payment! Mine took about 4 business days total. The anxiety is real when you're waiting for money you desperately need. Just keep checking your bank account and try to be patient. Washington ESD payments do come through, they're just slow sometimes.

•Thank you for the reassurance! It's really stressful when you're counting on the money for basic expenses.

•Totally understand the stress. The waiting is the worst part of the whole unemployment process.

Make sure you're checking the right account! I once spent a whole week panicking because I was checking my savings account instead of checking where the direct deposit was actually set up to go. Felt pretty dumb when I realized my mistake lol

•Haha, I've definitely made similar mistakes before! I double-checked and I'm looking at the right account.

If you're really worried, you can try calling Washington ESD customer service but good luck getting through. I've heard some people use services like Claimyr to help get connected faster. Might be worth looking into if you need to talk to someone urgently about your payment.

•Yeah, someone else mentioned Claimyr earlier. I'm hoping I won't need to call but it's good to know there are options.

just be patient, unemployment payments always take longer than you expect but they do come through eventually

•You're right, I just need to be more patient. It's hard when you're stressed about money though.

One thing to note - if your payment doesn't show up by early next week, definitely contact Washington ESD. Sometimes there can be backend issues that prevent payments from processing even when they show as 'issued' in the system. Don't wait too long if something seems wrong.

•Good advice, thank you. I'll give it until Tuesday and then look into contacting them if needed.

•Tuesday sounds like a reasonable deadline. Usually by then you know if there's a real problem or just normal processing delays.

I work at a bank and can tell you that unemployment deposits sometimes get flagged by fraud prevention systems, especially for new accounts or first-time deposits. This can add 1-2 extra days. If you have a good relationship with your bank, you might call them to ask if there are any holds on your account.

•That's really helpful insight! I hadn't thought about bank fraud prevention potentially causing delays.

•Great point about fraud prevention. Banks are extra cautious with government benefit deposits these days.

Is this your first claim ever or did you have unemployment before? First time claimants sometimes have additional verification steps that can delay initial payments

•This is my first time ever filing for unemployment, so that might explain the extra delay.

•Yes, first-time claims typically take longer due to additional identity verification and fraud prevention measures Washington ESD has in place.

Check your spam folder in email too - sometimes Washington ESD sends notifications about payment delays that end up in spam. Also make sure you don't have any outstanding work search requirements that might be holding things up.

•Good thinking! I checked and no emails in spam. My work search log is up to date too.

I'm in the same boat - approved Friday and still waiting! At least I know I'm not the only one. Hopefully we both see our payments early this week.

•Oh wow, exact same timeline! Yes, hopefully we both get our payments soon. It's oddly comforting to know someone else is in the same situation.

•You'll both probably see payments Monday or Tuesday. Weekend processing is slower for most banks.
