How long after ESD corrects a disqualification status will my UI payments actually arrive?

So my claim was disqualified for like 3 weeks because ESD said I didn't complete enough job search activities, but I totally did! I finally got through to someone yesterday after calling non-stop for days, and they admitted it was their mistake and said they fixed it in the system. The agent told me my status should change from disqualified to paid but didn't say WHEN. My rent is due on the 5th and I'm stressing out!!! Has anyone dealt with this before? How long did it take for your payments to actually show up after they corrected a disqualification error? I keep checking my account every few hours but nothing has changed yet. Should I call them again or just wait?

When this happened to me last year, it took about 5 business days for the status to change and then another 2 days for the money to hit my bank account. It depends on when they process the payment batch though. If they fixed it right after a payment cycle, you might have to wait until the next one. The ESD agent should have told you the timeline - they usually do!

Thanks! The agent I talked to was rushed and just said 'it's fixed' without giving me any details. I guess I'll wait until next week before panicking completely. Just wish they'd be more clear about timelines!

The system is definitely overloaded, but I've found that ESD staff genuinely try to help when you can actually reach them. The problems are mostly due to the antiquated computer systems they're forced to use and the volume of claims they handle. They're supposed to process fixes in 48-72 hours, but it can take longer depending on your specific situation.

My sister had the exact same problem! They fixed her status after she proved she did her job search activities but then there was another problem because her employer contested something else. Make sure there aren't any other issues hiding in your account that might delay things further. Good luck!

I had a similar situation in January where my claim was incorrectly disqualified due to an error on their end. After they fixed it, my status changed from disqualified to paid within 3 business days, and the funds were deposited 2 days after that. However, this timing can vary depending on when during the week they make the correction. If you're approaching your rent due date and need to expedite things, I recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an ESD representative. I was skeptical at first, but they got me connected with an actual person at ESD within 30 minutes when I'd been trying for days without success. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The representative should be able to tell you exactly when to expect your payment and might even be able to expedite it if you explain your situation with rent coming due.

I've never heard of Claimyr before - does it really work? I spent so many hours last week just hitting redial, I'm willing to try anything at this point. I'll check out that video, thanks!

Keep in mind that "fixing" a disqualification involves several steps in their system. First, they have to remove the disqualification flag, then your weekly claims need to be reprocessed, and finally the payment has to be authorized. Each step can take 24-48 hours in my experience. If you check your online account, look specifically at your weekly claim status for each affected week. It should change from "disqualified" to "processing" and then to "paid." This gives you a better indication of where things stand than just checking your payment history. If you don't see any changes after 5 business days, definitely call them back. Sometimes they fix the flag but forget to reprocess the affected weeks.

That's exactly what happened with my sister! They fixed the flag but didn't reprocess the weeks automatically. She had to call again to get that done. The system is so confusing.

This is super helpful, thank you. I just checked and my status still says disqualified for those weeks. It's only been 1 business day though, so I guess I need to be patient...which is NOT my strong suit when rent is due soon! I'll keep checking for that status change.

I sent two messages last week and never got any response! That's why I ended up having to call them. Do the messages actually work for anyone?

To answer your original question more specifically: after a disqualification is removed, the standard processing time is 48-72 hours for the status to change in the system and then payments typically follow the normal payment schedule. However, if you're in a financial hardship situation (like potentially missing rent), mention this specifically when you contact ESD. In cases of hardship, they have procedures to expedite payments, sometimes processing them in 24 hours rather than waiting for the regular payment cycle. Not everyone at ESD knows about or offers this option unless you specifically mention the hardship. I also recommend documenting everything. Note the date, time, and name of any agent you speak with, along with what they told you was fixed. This can be invaluable if there are further delays or issues.

I had no idea they could expedite payments! I'll definitely call back and mention the rent situation. And good tip about documenting everything - I only have the agent's first name from yesterday, but I'll be more thorough going forward. Thank you!

One last thing to check - make sure you filed your weekly claims for those disqualified weeks, even if they were showing as disqualified at the time. If you didn't file because you saw the disqualification, you'll need to request a backdate for those weeks, which is a separate process that can take longer.

Thankfully I did keep filing every week, even when I was disqualified! The agent confirmed they can see all my weekly claims. At least I did one thing right in this mess!

I went through almost the exact same thing last month! My claim was wrongly disqualified for "insufficient work search" when I had documented everything properly. After they admitted the error and fixed it, it took exactly 4 business days for my status to change from disqualified to paid, and the money hit my account 2 days after that. The key thing is that they process corrections in batches, usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So depending on when they made the fix, you might catch the next batch or have to wait for the one after. Since you're cutting it close with rent, I'd suggest calling back today or tomorrow and specifically mentioning that you're facing eviction - they do have expedited processing for hardship cases, but you have to ask for it directly. Also, keep screenshots of your account status changes as proof of the timeline in case your landlord needs documentation. Hope it gets sorted quickly for you!
