ESD agent said payment tonight but claim still shows disqualified - can I trust this?
Totally confused about my ESD claim status right now! I finally got through to an agent today about my disability-related issues. We went over all my documentation and I sent her exactly what she requested. She confidently told me that my payments would process TONIGHT and I should see the money by tomorrow morning. But here's what's freaking me out - I just checked my eServices account and my claim STILL shows as "disqualified"! The agent said if I didn't hear from her again today, everything would be fine and the payment would process overnight. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there a delay between when they approve you on the phone and when the system updates? Should I trust what she said or is this a sign something's wrong? I'm so stressed because I really need this money to pay my rent next week.

The exact same thing happened to me in February! Agent said I was approved but website still showed disqualified for like 30 hours after our call. The money hit my account before the website status even changed lol. ESD's system is soooo slow to update sometimes.

•OMG that's such a relief to hear! Did they end up paying the full amount they owed you? I'm anxiously checking my bank account every hour.

•THIS!!! ESD reps will say ANYTHING to get you off the phone. I had 3 different reps tell me 3 completely different things about my claim. The website status is more reliable than what they say.

•Great, now I'm worried again... I wonder if I should try calling back? But it took me like 2 hours to get through the first time.

The system does typically lag behind agent actions. When an agent processes a payment override or removes a disqualification, it can take 24-48 hours for the system to fully update and reflect the changes in your eServices portal. However, payments can still process during this time. What type of disability-related issue were you dealing with? If it was regarding able and available requirements or reasonable accommodations, those often require special handling that bypasses the normal automated system, which explains why your online status hasn't updated yet. I would give it until tomorrow morning as the agent suggested. If the payment doesn't arrive by then, call back and ask for the specific ticket number or case ID for the action they took today.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! It was about reasonable accommodations for my back injury. The disqualification happened because I initially said I couldn't work, but then I clarified that I could work with certain modifications. She seemed to understand and said she was removing the disqualification. I'll wait until tomorrow morning before panicking!

I went through something similar with my claim last month. The phone rep told me my adjudication was complete and payment would process that night, but my online account still showed "disqualified" for almost 2 days. In my case, I eventually got the payment, but it was stressful waiting and wondering if the rep had actually fixed things. ESD's system is notoriously slow to update the statuses we see online. If you need to follow up tomorrow and can't get through on the regular number, I finally had success using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a system that keeps calling ESD for you and gets you in the queue. Saved me hours of redial frustration. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Good luck! Let us know if the payment comes through!

•Yes, it's legitimate. I was skeptical too but it really did work for me. It basically just automates the calling process so you don't have to keep redialing. When it gets through, it calls your phone and connects you. Not cheap but worth it if you're desperate to talk to ESD.

I'm a former ESD intake specialist, and I can tell you that what you experienced is unfortunately very common. The agent you spoke with likely processed what we call a "manual override" on your disability disqualification. Here's the technical explanation: Your online account status will continue to show "disqualified" until the nightly batch processing runs (usually between 1-3 AM). The agent can submit the payment authorization, but the visual status update is dependent on that batch process. Some good news - if she said payment would process tonight, that means she did actually enter the override into the system. About 90% of the time, when an agent tells you this specifically, the payment does process correctly even while the status still shows disqualified. However, for peace of mind, I recommend taking a screenshot of your current status. If the payment doesn't arrive by tomorrow afternoon, you'll want documentation of the before status.

•Thank you so much for this insider explanation! I just took a screenshot as you suggested. It's reassuring to hear from someone who knows the system from the inside. I'll try to be patient until tomorrow afternoon before taking any other action.

•This is incredibly helpful info. I wish ESD would just explain this stuff to people instead of leaving us in the dark wondering what's happening!

Honestly, my experience with ESD has been nothing but frustration. They told me I'd be paid three different times and each time something else went wrong. First it was identity verification, then missing work search activities, then some mysterious "adjudication" that took 6 weeks! I don't trust ANYTHING they say anymore until I see the money in my account. The system is completely broken and they don't care about people struggling to pay bills. The agents just tell you whatever will get you off the phone. I hope your experience is better than mine, but I wouldn't count on that money until it's actually deposited.

•I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience! That sounds awful. Did you ever get your issues resolved? I'm starting to wonder if I should have a backup plan for paying my rent just in case.

•Eventually yes, but only after I contacted my state representative's office and had them intervene. Suddenly ESD could solve my "complex case" in 24 hours after 8 weeks of getting nowhere. Definitely have a backup plan for rent - never trust ESD timelines.

•Thanks for sharing! It's good to know I'm not alone in this confusion. Hoping I have the same outcome as your brother.

UPDATE: You guys were right! The money hit my account this morning even though the website STILL says disqualified. So relieved right now. Thank you all for the reassurance and advice. For anyone else in this situation - trust what the agent tells you if they specifically mention processing the payment that night, even if the website doesn't update!
