How long after ESD adjudicator interview for decision on my UI claim?

Finally got my adjudication interview yesterday after waiting 5 weeks! The agent asked about my job separation (company downsized and eliminated my department). The call only lasted 12 minutes, and she said she had all she needed. But now I'm wondering - how long does it typically take for them to make a decision after the interview? The agent didn't give me any timeframe and now I'm getting anxious. My savings are nearly depleted and I really need this resolved. Has anyone recently gone through adjudication? How many days/weeks did it take after speaking with the adjudicator to get your decision? I check my eServices account constantly but nothing has changed yet.

In my experience, it can take anywhere from 2-10 business days to get a decision after the adjudicator interview. Your case sounds straightforward (company downsizing is usually considered a lack of work situation which typically qualifies for benefits). The simpler cases tend to be decided faster. Make sure you keep filing your weekly claims during this waiting period, even though they'll show as 'pending' until the adjudication is complete.

Thanks for this info! I've definitely been keeping up with my weekly claims. Do you think I should call them if I don't hear anything by next Friday? That would be 8 business days.

mine took 3 weeks after interview but that was during holiday season so maybe thats why it was slow. keep checking ur eservices account, thats where decision will show up first

3 weeks?! Oh man, I hope mine doesn't take that long. Did they backpay you for all those pending weeks once approved?

ESD IS THE WORST!!! I had my adjudication interview TWO MONTHS AGO and still no decision!! Called 47 times last week and either get disconnected or told "it's still being processed" by some clueless rep. System is completely BROKEN. Good luck getting any kind of straight answer from those people. They don't care that people are losing their homes waiting for their incompetence.

That's horrible! Did you ever try contacting your state representative? I've heard they can sometimes help move things along.

I went through this back in January. My situation was similar - company restructuring and my position was eliminated. I had my adjudicator interview on a Tuesday, and my determination letter was in my eServices account the following Monday (so 4 business days). All my pending payments were processed by Wednesday. The key factors affecting timing seem to be: 1. How straightforward your case is (yours sounds clear-cut) 2. Whether they need to contact your former employer for verification 3. Current ESD workload If your former employer already responded to ESD's inquiry and verified your account of the separation, you'll likely hear back faster. Keep filing those weekly claims!

This gives me hope! My former HR manager actually told me they already responded to ESD's inquiry before my interview, confirming it was a downsizing. Fingers crossed I hear back quickly like you did.

My sister just went thru adjudication and it took 6 days after her phone interview to get her decision (approved). But my cousin waited almost a month. I think it just depends on who gets assigned to your case and how busy they are honestly

If you're really concerned about the timeline, I'd suggest trying Claimyr to reach an ESD agent directly (claimyr.com). I was in adjudication hell for weeks, and trying to call ESD directly was impossible. Claimyr got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes who could tell me exactly where my claim stood and when to expect a decision. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. It saved me a ton of stress not having to call 50+ times and getting nowhere.

Thanks for this suggestion! If I don't hear anything by the end of next week, I'll definitely give that a try. Sounds better than spending hours on redial.

I'd recommend sending a message through your eServices account asking for a status update if you don't hear back within 5 business days. Use the secure messaging system and specifically mention that you had your adjudication interview on [date] and are inquiring about the timeframe for a decision. Sometimes this can prompt them to check on your claim. Also, make sure your phone notifications are turned on - they sometimes call if they need additional information, and missing that call can delay things further. Good luck!

i tried that messaging thing it didnt work at all for me. sent 3 messages never got any response. calling is better imo

That's unfortunate. The messaging system has been hit or miss lately. It worked well for me about 6 months ago, but I've heard they're understaffed in that department now.

UPDATE: Got my decision today! It took exactly 7 business days after my interview. I was approved and all my pending weeks have been processed for payment. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and advice - it really helped keep me sane during the wait!

Great news! Glad it was resolved quickly for you. Make sure you stay on top of your weekly claims and job search activities (3 per week) to keep everything flowing smoothly.

Lucky you! Still waiting on mine... 9 weeks and counting...

Congratulations on getting approved! Your timeline of 7 business days gives me hope for others still waiting. For those still in the process, I'd recommend documenting everything - dates of interviews, who you spoke with, case numbers, etc. It helps when you need to follow up. Also, don't forget that once you're approved, you'll need to keep certifying weekly and meeting the work search requirements. The job search requirement is currently 3 work search activities per week, so make sure you're tracking those properly to avoid any issues down the road.

This is really helpful advice! I'm still waiting on my adjudication decision (had my interview 4 days ago) and I've been keeping a detailed log of everything. One thing I learned from reading through everyone's experiences here is that the timeline can vary so much - some people get decisions in a few days while others wait months. @DeShawn Washington s'success story gives me hope that straightforward cases like layoffs/downsizing do tend to move faster. I m'definitely going to keep up with my weekly claims and start preparing my work search documentation just in case I get approved soon.

As someone who went through adjudication last month, I can share that timing really does vary based on your specific situation. Since you mentioned it was a company downsizing and the interview was only 12 minutes with the adjudicator saying she had everything needed, that's usually a good sign - it suggests your case is straightforward. In my experience working with clients (I'm a workforce counselor), layoff cases typically get resolved faster than quit/misconduct cases because there's less investigation needed. One tip: if you haven't already, make sure you have documentation of the layoff (layoff notice, WARN act notice if applicable, etc.) saved in case they need additional verification. The fact that your HR already responded to ESD's inquiry should definitely help speed things up. Try to stay patient - 7 business days like DeShawn experienced seems to be pretty typical for clear-cut cases like yours.

Thanks for the professional insight! It's really reassuring to hear from someone who works in workforce services. I do have my layoff documentation saved - got the official notice when they eliminated our whole department. The fact that you mentioned layoff cases typically move faster than misconduct cases gives me a lot of hope. I was worried because I've seen some horror stories online, but it sounds like those might be more complex situations. Appreciate you taking the time to share your expertise with us!

This thread has been so helpful! I'm currently waiting for my adjudication decision after having my interview last Thursday (so 3 business days ago). My situation was also a layoff - my employer had to make budget cuts and eliminated several positions including mine. The adjudicator seemed satisfied with my explanation and said she'd review the employer's response they already had on file. Reading everyone's experiences here, especially @DeShawn Washington's successful outcome in 7 days, really helps manage my anxiety about the wait. I've been keeping up with my weekly claims and have all my layoff documentation ready if they need anything else. It's encouraging to see that straightforward layoff cases do seem to move through the system more quickly than other types of separations. Fingers crossed I'll have good news soon!

Your situation sounds very similar to mine and @DeShawn Washington s!'Layoffs due to budget cuts are usually pretty straightforward for ESD to process since there s'clear documentation and no fault on the employee s'side. Three business days in isn t'too long yet - I d'say if you don t'hear anything by early next week around (the 7-8 business day mark that seems common ,)that might be when to consider following up. The fact that your adjudicator already had your employer s'response on file is definitely a good sign that things should move along smoothly. Keep checking your eServices account daily, and make sure you re'continuing those weekly claims! Hoping you get your approval soon - this waiting period is definitely nerve-wracking but it sounds like you re'in a good position.

I'm in a similar boat - had my adjudication interview yesterday for a layoff situation (company restructuring eliminated my entire team). The interview was brief, maybe 10 minutes, and the adjudicator said everything looked straightforward. It's reassuring to see @DeShawn Washington got approved in 7 business days for a similar downsizing case! I'm trying to stay optimistic but the waiting is tough when finances are tight. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines and experiences - it really helps to know what to expect. I'll keep filing my weekly claims and hopefully have good news to report back soon. This community has been a lifesaver for navigating this whole process!

Welcome to the waiting club! Your timeline sounds very similar to what many of us have experienced - brief interview for a clear-cut layoff case is usually a good sign. Since you just had your interview yesterday, you're still very early in the process. Based on what I've seen in this thread, most straightforward layoff cases seem to get resolved within that 7-10 business day window that others have mentioned. The fact that the adjudicator called it "straightforward" is really encouraging! Make sure you keep up with those weekly claims while you wait - I learned that lesson from reading everyone's advice here. Hoping you get your approval soon and can report back with another success story for the next person going through this stressful process!

Just wanted to add my recent experience to help others - I had my adjudication interview two weeks ago for a similar company downsizing situation. The interview was quick (about 15 minutes) and focused mainly on confirming the details of my separation. I got my decision exactly 5 business days later and was approved! All my pending weekly claims were processed within 48 hours after that. For anyone still waiting, I found that checking eServices in the evening seemed to show updates faster than checking during business hours - not sure if that's just coincidence or if they batch process decisions at certain times. Also, make sure you have your direct deposit info updated because once approved, payments can come pretty quickly. The whole adjudication process was way less scary than I expected after reading some of the horror stories online. Hang in there everyone!

That's really encouraging to hear! 5 business days is even faster than some of the other success stories we've seen here. I like your tip about checking eServices in the evening - I hadn't thought about timing mattering but it makes sense that they might process batches at certain times of day. Your experience adds to the pattern we're seeing where straightforward layoff/downsizing cases tend to move through the system much more quickly than complicated separations. Thanks for sharing the timeline and practical tips - it's exactly the kind of real-world info that helps reduce anxiety for those of us still in the waiting phase!

I'm currently going through the adjudication process myself and this thread has been incredibly helpful! I had my interview 3 days ago for a layoff situation (my company had to eliminate positions due to financial restructuring). The interview was about 8 minutes and the adjudicator confirmed they already had my employer's documentation on file. Reading all these success stories, especially the pattern of 5-7 business days for straightforward layoff cases, gives me so much hope. The waiting is definitely anxiety-inducing when you're watching your savings dwindle, but seeing @DeShawn Washington and others get approved relatively quickly for similar situations helps me stay positive. I've been diligently filing my weekly claims and keeping all my documentation ready. Fingers crossed I'll have good news to share soon and can help the next person going through this stressful process!

Your timeline sounds very promising! 3 days in with an 8-minute interview and employer documentation already on file - that's exactly the kind of setup that seems to lead to quick approvals based on everyone's experiences here. The pattern really does seem consistent for layoff cases: brief interviews, employer verification already complete, and decisions coming within that 5-7 business day window. I'm rooting for you to get your approval soon! This thread has become such a valuable resource for people going through adjudication - it's amazing how sharing real timelines and outcomes helps reduce the stress of waiting. Make sure to update us when you hear back so future folks can benefit from your experience too!

This thread has been such a goldmine of information! I'm scheduled for my adjudication interview next Tuesday for a layoff situation (company closure due to bankruptcy). Reading through everyone's experiences, especially the consistent pattern of 5-7 business days for straightforward layoff cases, has really helped calm my nerves about what to expect. It's encouraging to see that when the employer documentation is already on file and the separation reason is clear-cut, the process seems to move much more efficiently. I've been preparing by gathering all my layoff paperwork and making sure I understand the timeline of events clearly. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences here - @DeShawn Washington, @Kevin Bell, and others - your success stories give hope to those of us just starting this process! I'll make sure to update this thread with my timeline once I go through it to help the next person.
