ESD reported wrong hours (456 vs 2080) on unemployment claim. How to get it fixed?
I'm having a problem with my unemployment claim. The state agency reported only 456 hours for me last year, but I actually worked 2080 hours full-time. I've uploaded all the necessary documents (paystub, W2, and verification from my employer) to prove this. The minimum requirement is 680 hours, so I should definitely qualify. I've tried filing twice now because I can't get through to anyone to fix this. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? Any advice on how to get this corrected?

Ugh, dealing with unemployment is THE WORST. I had a similar issue last year where they underreported my hours. It took forever to get it fixed. Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling.

•I haven't tried email yet. Good idea! Did you use a specific email address or just the general contact one on their website?

•I used the general one, but make sure to put 'URGENT: Hours Correction Needed' in the subject line. Seemed to help get a faster response. Good luck!

•Email? lol good luck with that. I've been waiting 3 weeks for a response to my 'urgent' email. 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ

•Sounds like a scam. Why should we have to pay to talk to unemployment? The system is so broken 😤

•I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate after weeks of trying to get through. It's not ideal, but it worked for me. 🤷♂️

•How long did you have to wait once you used the service? Was it worth the $20?

•It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and got a call when an agent was on the line. Totally worth it for me, saved days of frustration.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep ALL your documentation organized. Make copies of everything. 2. Write a clear, concise letter explaining the discrepancy. Include dates, claim numbers, and references to your uploaded documents. 3. If you can't get through by phone, send your letter via certified mail. This creates a paper trail. 4. File an appeal if necessary. Don't wait on this - there are usually strict deadlines. 5. Contact your state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with unemployment issues. 6. Document every interaction - dates, times, names of who you spoke with. 7. Be persistent but polite. The folks working there are probably overwhelmed. Hang in there! The system is a mess right now, but keep pushing. You'll get it sorted eventually.

I'm in the same boat, buddy. Been trying to get my hours corrected for months. It's like they're playing games with our livelihoods. Hang in there!

•Thanks for the support. It's frustrating, but good to know I'm not alone. How long have you been dealing with this?

•Going on 4 months now. It's ridiculous. I've started documenting everything in case I need to take legal action. This system is a joke.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch someone then.

•This! Also, Wednesdays seem to be less busy for some reason. At least in my experience.

Have you considered reaching out to a local news station? Sometimes the threat of bad publicity can light a fire under these agencies. Just a thought!

ugh this makes me so mad. we work hard, pay our taxes, and then when we need help the system fails us. its like they want us to give up. don't let them win!

•Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's not the 1980s anymore, why is everything still so inefficient?

Random question, but has anyone had luck with the online chat feature on the unemployment website? I've been thinking of trying that instead of calling.

•I tried it once. Waited 2 hours to connect, then got disconnected. 0/10 would not recommend. 😑

•Actually, I had a good experience with it! But I think I just got lucky and caught them on a slow day. Worth a shot if you're desperate.

Guys I think I cracked the code. I called the Spanish line and then asked for an English speaker. Got through in 10 minutes! 🤫

•Bruh 💀 That's some big brain energy right there

•Isn't that kinda unethical tho? What if someone who actually needs the Spanish line can't get through?

•I mean, desperate times call for desperate measures. The whole system is unethical if you ask me. 🤷♂️
