ESD payment delays this week + handling two union memberships for UI claims

Has anyone who filed their weekly claim online received their payment yet this week? Mine usually hits by Tuesday morning but nothing so far. Starting to get nervous since rent's due Friday. Also need advice about my husband's situation - he just got his card in a second union but will still keep his membership in his original one. He'll be bouncing between jobs from both unions depending on what's available. Is there a way to have both union affiliations on his ESD profile at the same time? Or does he need to update his union info every time he files depending on which one he's working under that week? Really don't want him to mess up his claims if work slows down again.

got mine today at like 6am... maybe call esd to check? sometimes theres weird delays when holidays coming up

Thanks, that's a relief someone got paid. Maybe it's just my bank being slow. I'll give it another day before I panic.

For the union question - your husband needs to update his union information each time he files a weekly claim based on which union he's working under that week. There's no way to have multiple unions listed simultaneously in the ESD system. It's important he selects the correct union when filing because it affects how ESD verifies his work search activities and availability for work. He should make sure to document every change carefully in case there's ever an audit of his claims. This is especially important if he's frequently switching between unions, as inconsistencies might trigger adjudication reviews.

That's really helpful, thank you! I was worried about that. Do you know if switching back and forth might cause any delays in his payments? He's worried about that since we've had adjudication delays before.

As long as he's consistent and accurate when reporting which union he's currently registered with, it shouldn't cause delays. If ESD does have questions, they might put a hold on payments until they verify the information. To avoid this, he should keep documentation from both unions showing his active membership status and any job referrals he receives. Having this ready will help if ESD needs verification.

My payment is SUPER late too!!! I filed Sunday night like always but nothing in my account yet. Last time this happened they had "system issues" but didn't bother telling anyone until people started calling. SO FRUSTRATING!!! I think their system crashes every time there's a holiday coming up. Memorial Day is probably messing everything up again.

Same here, filed Sunday and nothing yet. Called the automated line and it says my payment was processed but nothing in my account. This happened during Spring Break too - took an extra 2 days for some reason.

Trying to reach ESD right now is nearly impossible. I've been calling for three days about a different issue and can't get through. The estimated wait time says 2+ hours then it just disconnects me! Anyone know a better way to reach them?

I was in the same boat last month trying to fix an adjudication issue. Spent days getting disconnected. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They have this system that holds your place in line and calls you back when an agent is available. Saved me so much stress! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3

Regarding your husband's union situation: This is actually fairly common with tradespeople who maintain multiple union memberships. As mentioned above, he'll need to update the information each time he files, showing which union he's currently working under. Here's what he should do to avoid problems: 1. When filing weekly claims, he should correctly identify which union he's working with that week. 2. In the work search section, he should document that he's registered with the union hiring hall and following their dispatch procedures. 3. If he's on standby status with one union but takes work with another, he needs to report that correctly and update his status. 4. Keep detailed records of all union dues payments, dispatch slips, and work referrals from both unions. The most important thing is consistency and accuracy in reporting. If ESD sees different unions reported from week to week without explanation, it might trigger a review.

Thank you! That's really detailed and helpful. He'll start keeping better records of everything. Do you think it would help if he leaves a note in the comments section of his weekly claim explaining the situation when he switches unions?

Yes, adding a brief note in the comments section when he switches unions is an excellent idea. Something simple like: "Reporting work through IBEW this week instead of Pipefitters due to job availability." This creates a clear record in the system and shows transparency. ESD agents appreciate these kinds of clarifying notes when reviewing claims.

my cousin works for two unoins to and he just puts whatever one he worked for last on his claim. never had no problems getting paid. esd doesnt really care as long as your looking for work and available

This approach isn't recommended. While your cousin may not have had issues yet, ESD does verify union membership during audits. Incorrect reporting could potentially lead to overpayment notices or disqualification. It's always better to accurately report which union you're working under each week.

back on the payment thing - anyone else notice ESD always has "technical issues" right when rent is due? happen to anyone else or just me lol

YESSS!!! I swear they do this on purpose! Last month my payment was 4 days late and my apartment tried to charge me a late fee. Like we're already struggling and then they pull this???

I've noticed it seems to happen more around holidays. I think their system gets backed up with all the holiday hours and scheduling. Not making excuses for them, just seems to be a pattern. Always stressful though.
