ESD job search log stuck as draft - can't submit for previous week

I messed up big time with my job search activities log and now I'm panicking. I thought I'd submitted everything correctly for last week, but when I logged in today, I noticed my job search log is still showing as 'draft' status. I tried going in to edit and submit it properly, but now the system is only showing next week's date as an option, not last week when these activities actually happened. Has anyone run into this problem before? Is there any way to fix this or am I going to lose benefits for this week? Can I call ESD to get them to manually accept my job search activities? Really worried about getting disqualified over a technical mistake.

Oh no, seriously? So there's no way to fix it? Will I get disqualified for this week then?

Don't panic yet! This is actually a common issue with the ESD job search logging system. You have a couple options: 1. Call the ESD customer service line and explain the situation. They can make a note on your claim and sometimes manually accept your job search activities. 2. Document everything - take screenshots of your draft and the activities you entered. Keep detailed notes about what happened. 3. Continue filing your weekly claim as normal (say YES you looked for work), then if you get selected for a job search review later, you'll have documentation to show you actually did the activities even though the system didn't let you submit properly. ESD understands their system has quirks and they're usually reasonable about honest mistakes like this.

Thank you, this is so helpful! I've been trying to call ESD but I keep getting the 'high call volume' message and then it disconnects. Do you think I should keep trying to call or just focus on documenting everything?

Been there! The job search system is the WORST. I once lost a whole week of benefits because of this exact stupid glitch!!! And when i finally got thru to someone at ESD they told me "should have called sooner" even though I TRIED!!!

That sounds horrible! Did you try appealing the decision? I've heard you can sometimes get retroactive payments if you can prove it was a system error and not your fault.

I want to add some important information about how job search logs work in the ESD system, based on my experience helping others with this issue: 1. The system automatically locks out ability to submit for previous weeks - this is an intentional design, not a glitch 2. You should still answer "YES" to the job search question in your weekly claim certification 3. Keep detailed records of all your job search activities (screenshots of your draft, dates, employers, etc.) 4. If you get selected for a job search review (random audit), you'll need to provide this documentation 5. Most importantly, you need to reach an ESD agent to add a note to your claim about this situation The biggest challenge is actually getting through to ESD on the phone. Their line is notoriously difficult to reach during peak times.

This is exactly what I needed to know, thank you. I've been trying for days to get through to an actual person at ESD with no luck. Is there any trick to reaching someone? I'm worried that if I don't get this sorted out soon, it will cause problems with my benefits.

I had this exact situation last month! After trying the regular ESD number for days, I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Once I got through to an agent, they were actually super understanding about the job search log issue. The agent made a note on my claim about the draft situation and told me to keep filing my weekly claims normally. I didn't have any problems with my benefits. Definitely recommend talking to an actual person about this!

Thank you for the recommendation! I'm going to check out that service right now. At this point I'm desperate to talk to a real person at ESD. Did they ask for any specific information when you called about the job search log issue?

To answer your follow-up question - when you do reach an ESD agent, have this information ready: 1. Your claim ID number 2. The specific week (date range) where your job search log is stuck in draft 3. Details of your job search activities for that week 4. Screenshots or documentation if possible Make sure to specifically ask them to add a note to your claim about the job search log technical issue. Also ask them to confirm that your weekly benefits won't be affected by this. In my experience, as long as you did actually perform the job search activities and can document them, ESD is reasonable about system limitations. The key is getting through to actually speak with someone.

Got it! I have all of this information ready to go. I'll make sure to ask for a note on my claim specifically. Really appreciate everyone's help with this - was having a major panic moment thinking I'd lose benefits over a technical error.

Just as a follow-up since I saw your question - when I used Claimyr to reach ESD about my job search log issue, they got me through to an agent in the claims department. The agent asked for my SSN, claim ID, and the specific week I was having trouble with. They confirmed I could still receive benefits as long as I actually did the job search activities, even if the system wouldn't let me submit the log retroactively. The whole call took about 15 minutes once I got through.

That's so helpful to know! I'm going to try this today. I was worried I'd wait forever just to be told I reached the wrong department or something. Fingers crossed I get someone as helpful as you did!
