How to correct ESD application mistakes without reapplying? No options showing in my account

I'm freaking out right now because I realized I made a pretty significant mistake on my initial unemployment application. I accidentally listed my last day of work as March 14th instead of March 4th, 2025. I also messed up some of my previous employer information and now I'm worried this will delay my benefits or get me denied altogether. I've been trying to find a way to correct this in my ESD account but there's no edit option anywhere! When I called, the automated system didn't have any options for fixing application errors. Do I need to completely start over with a new application? Will this look suspicious? Has anyone successfully fixed mistakes on their application without major issues? I really can't afford delays right now since rent is due in 2 weeks.

You don't need to reapply completely - that would actually cause more problems. What you need to do is submit a message through your eServices account. Log in, go to your dashboard, click on 'Send a message' (it's under the Communications section), then choose 'Claims Questions' from the dropdown menu. Explain exactly what information was incorrect and provide the correct details. Be very specific about what needs to be changed. They'll update it manually on their end. I had to correct my separation reason this way last year and it took about 5 business days to get fixed.

Thank you so much! I looked again and found the Send a Message option (it was hiding at the bottom of my screen). Should I continue filing my weekly claims while waiting for them to fix my application? I'm worried about claiming benefits with incorrect information on file.

DO NOT REAPPLY!! They will flag your account for fraud investigation if you have multiple applications in the system! I made this mistake last summer and ended up with a 6-week delay while they investigated. Your best bet is calling them directly and speaking to an agent who can make the correction immediately rather than waiting for them to respond to messages. The problem is actually getting through to someone...

u can try Claimyr, i used it last month when i couldnt get thru to esd for 2 weeks straight. it basically holds ur place in line and calls u back when an agent is available. saved me hours of being on hold. their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. only thing that actually worked for me after trying for days

To properly correct application mistakes, you have three options: 1. Send a detailed message through eServices (Claims Questions category) 2. Upload a letter explaining the corrections through the document upload feature 3. Speak with an agent who can make real-time corrections Whichever method you choose, continue filing your weekly claims without interruption. Stopping your weekly claims can cause bigger problems than the original error. The date correction you mentioned is relatively minor and common - ESD deals with these kinds of corrections routinely. If your initial claim is approved before the correction is processed, you may receive benefits based on the incorrect information. Don't worry - they'll adjust afterwards if needed. The key is maintaining your claim status while the correction is being processed.

my brother had somthing similar happen and he just kept filing weekly and everything worked out fine. they ended up fixing it without him even doing anything cause his paystubs showed the right info.

I was panicing about the same thing two months ago! I put my birthdate wrong (typed 1978 instead of 1987) and also messed up my work history dates. I tried calling for THREE DAYS with no luck, then finally just went in person to my local WorkSource office. The person there couldn't fix it directly but they have a special phone line to ESD and got me through to someone who fixed it while I waited. If you're still having trouble after trying the message system, try the in-person WorkSource route! Worked for me when nothing else did.

That's a great idea! I didn't realize WorkSource could help with this. There's an office about 20 minutes from me, so I might try that if I don't hear back through the message system in a few days. Did you need an appointment or did you just walk in?

ESD is such a mess with this stuff. why don't they just have a simple edit button like every other website in existence?? they make everything 10x harder than it needs to be. i've been on unemployment twice and both times had issues that took forever to resolve. good luck getting through to anyone who can actually help! the whole system is designed to make you give up.

While the system definitely has issues, in this case there's actually a good reason for not having a simple edit button - it's to prevent fraud and maintain an audit trail. Any changes need to be documented and reviewed. But I agree they could make the correction process more transparent and easier to find!

Update: I submitted a detailed message through eServices yesterday explaining my mistakes. This morning I got a call from an ESD agent who helped me update my information! She said the date correction was simple and that they deal with these kinds of mistakes all the time. She also said I should continue filing my weekly claims as normal and that this shouldn't cause any delays in processing my claim. Just wanted to update in case anyone else runs into this problem. Thanks for all the help everyone!

That's awesome news! Thanks for updating us - it's really helpful to hear success stories like this. I'm sure other people in similar situations will find this thread and feel less stressed knowing that ESD actually does handle these corrections routinely. It's good to know the messaging system works and that they're responsive when you explain the issue clearly.

So glad to hear you got it resolved quickly! This is exactly why I always recommend the messaging system through eServices as the first step. For anyone else reading this thread who might have similar issues - the key is being very specific and detailed in your message about what needs to be corrected. Include your claim number, clearly state what information is wrong, and provide the correct information. ESD agents are used to handling these types of corrections and they're usually pretty responsive through the messaging system. Much less stressful than trying to get through on the phone!

This is such a relief to see! I'm actually dealing with something similar right now - I put the wrong start date for one of my previous jobs and have been stressing about it all week. Your success story gives me hope that it's not as big a deal as I thought it would be. I'm going to follow your advice about being detailed in the message. Thanks for sharing the outcome - it really helps to know that ESD staff are understanding about these honest mistakes!

I had a very similar experience last year! I accidentally put my wage information from my previous job instead of my most recent one and was terrified it would mess everything up. Like others have mentioned, the messaging system through eServices really is the way to go. I sent a detailed message explaining the error and within 3 business days they had corrected it and sent me a confirmation message. The agent even thanked me for catching the mistake early since it helped prevent any payment delays later on. Don't stress too much - these kinds of honest mistakes happen all the time and ESD has processes in place to handle them efficiently. Just make sure to keep filing your weekly claims while you wait for the correction to be processed!

This whole thread has been so helpful! I'm new to unemployment and was really worried about making mistakes on my application. It's reassuring to see that ESD actually has good processes for handling corrections and that honest mistakes don't automatically result in fraud investigations or major delays. The messaging system through eServices seems to be the consensus best approach. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it makes navigating this system feel a lot less intimidating for those of us going through it for the first time!
