Need to fix Texas employment info on ESD application - can't edit after submission?

I'm panicking a bit here. I just submitted my unemployment application yesterday but realized I made a huge mistake. When asked if I worked somewhere in the past 18 months, I selected 'no' but I actually worked in Texas for about 2 1/2 months last year! This is going to look like I'm hiding employment which I'm definitely not trying to do. I've been calling ESD non-stop this morning (literally 40+ calls) and can't get through to anyone. Is there any way to edit my application after submission? Can I somehow add this missing employment information before they process my claim? I'm worried they'll deny me for false information but it was just a stupid oversight.

You can't edit the application after submitting it unfortunately. You need to talk to an ESD agent to correct this. They'll probably put your claim on hold and require you to provide documentation about the Texas employment. Keep calling or try early morning when they first open.

Ugh that's what I was afraid of. I've been calling since 8am with no luck. Do you know if there's an email address I could use instead?

When this happened to me last year, I uploaded a letter explaining the error to my documents section in eServices. I also included my Texas paystubs and W-2. Then I waited for them to contact me. They eventually put me in adjudication for about 3 weeks while they verified the info with Texas, but my claim was ultimately approved. Just make sure you're super clear that it was an honest mistake!

Thank you! I'll try uploading those documents right away. Did they specifically ask you for anything else during the 3 weeks or did you just have to wait?

U might just wanna wait and see if they even notice tbh... if it was only 2.5 months and not much money they might not care that much

This is terrible advice. ESD cross-checks employment with other states. They WILL find out, and then OP will face potential fraud issues and overpayment demands. Always be 100% honest with unemployment agencies - they share data nationally.

If you need to reach ESD quickly, try Claimyr.com - it's a service that helps you get through to an actual ESD agent without the endless redial nightmare. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. I used it when I had a similar issue with missing employment history and got through in about 20 minutes instead of days of calling.

I've never heard of this before. Is it legit? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point.

Yes, totally legit. They basically navigate ESD's phone system for you and call you back when they've got an agent on the line. Saved me hours of frustration when I needed to fix my claim.

THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX MISTAKES!!! I had almost the exact same issue but with Oregon employment and it took me TWO MONTHS to get it resolved while my bills piled up. ESD will eventually flag your account for a "fact finding interview" about the Texas employment they discover through their interstate data sharing. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING and start collecting your Texas pay stubs NOW!!!

not everyone has same experience tho... my roommate had to fix something on his claim and it only took like a week once he got through to someone. just depends who u get i think

ESD claims examiner here. The correct procedure is to: 1. Continue filing your weekly claims while this gets resolved 2. Upload a signed statement explaining the error along with proof of the Texas employment (W-2, paystubs) 3. Call the claims center to alert them about the correction Your claim will likely go into adjudication while ESD verifies your Texas wages through the Interstate Connection Network. This is normal. The adjudicator will determine if those wages qualify for your Washington claim or if you need to file in Texas instead (depends on how much you earned in each state).

Thank you so much for the detailed information! This makes me feel a lot better. I'll upload my documentation today and keep trying to reach someone. Should I still file my weekly claim this Sunday even though this isn't resolved?

Yes, absolutely keep filing your weekly claims without interruption. If you stop filing while waiting for this to resolve, you'll lose those weeks even if your claim is ultimately approved. The system will hold the payments until the adjudication is complete, but you need to have those weeks on record.

i had something kinda similar happen last month... forgot about a temp job i did for like 3 weeks... what worked for me was sending a message through the eservices portal thing using the 'contact us' option... took like 4 days but someone actually responded and told me what to do

I didn't realize you could send messages through eServices! I'll try that right now. Did they just have you upload documents or did you have to do something else?

they had me fill out some form about missing employment (cant remember what its called) and upload my paystubs. then they put my claim on hold for like 2 weeks while they checked everything. kinda sucked waiting but at least it got fixed

Just wondering - was the Texas job W-2 employment or contract/1099 work? Makes a difference in how ESD processes it.

It was regular W-2 employment at a warehouse. I have my W-2 from them and about 5 paystubs. I just completely blanked when filling out the application because it was such a short job between two longer Washington jobs.
