ESD holiday closure question - will this delay my adjudication further?

Just realized ESD is closed on Monday for the holiday but I've been waiting 5 weeks for my adjudication to complete. My rent is due next week and I'm seriously running out of options. Does anyone know if this holiday closure will push back all pending claims by another day? Also wondering if there's any way to contact someone during the closure or if the governor's office can help with unemployment issues since they're apparently still open? I'm at my wit's end here - my last job laid off 40% of staff with no warning and my savings are completely drained.

The holiday will delay everything by at least one business day. Unfortunately, the governor's office doesn't handle individual unemployment claims - they'll just redirect you to ESD. Your adjudication is already taking longer than the typical 3-4 week timeframe. Have you checked your ESD online account for any alerts or requests for additional information? Sometimes claims get stuck because they need documentation from you but the notification gets lost.

I've been checking my eServices account obsessively - multiple times a day. There are no alerts, no requests for documents, nothing but "adjudication in progress" since March 18th. I uploaded all my termination paperwork right away. Should I be contacting my former employer? Maybe there's something they haven't submitted?

7 WEEKS?! I can't wait that long! Did you do anything that finally got it moving or did it just randomly complete one day?

This EXACT THING happened to me in January!!! My adjudication took 6 WEEKS and I nearly lost my apartment. The ESD system is BROKEN and nobody cares!!! I called literally 47 times in one day and never got through to anyone. The holiday will 100% delay everything because they're already behind on EVERYTHING. I'm still fighting with them about an overpayment notice from THREE MONTHS AGO that was THEIR mistake not mine!!!!

Oh no, that's terrible! Did you ever find any way to actually reach a person? I'm willing to try anything at this point.

I work in HR and deal with ESD regularly. Here's what's likely happening: your former employer may be contesting the claim or slow to respond to ESD's request for information. When this happens, ESD has to allow employers a certain timeframe to respond before proceeding. The holiday closure will add one business day to all timeframes. You should: 1. Continue filing your weekly claims on time 2. Check if your former employer is contesting your claim (call their HR department) 3. Prepare documentation showing you were laid off through no fault of your own 4. Try contacting ESD first thing Tuesday morning The adjudication process can take 4-8 weeks currently, especially for layoffs involving multiple employees.

Thank you for this detailed response! I hadn't thought about my employer contesting it - they told us all it was purely financial and not performance-based. I'll try calling their HR department tomorrow. And yes, I've been religiously filing my weekly claims even though I'm not getting paid.

I had good luck using Claimyr to get through to ESD when my claim was stuck. It costs a little but was worth it to actually talk to someone after weeks of trying. They got me connected to an agent in about 25 minutes when I couldn't get through at all by myself. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and their website is claimyr.com. The ESD agent was able to see that my claim had a flag on it that wasn't showing up in my online account.

I've heard about this service but wasn't sure if it was legit. Did the agent actually help resolve your adjudication or just tell you to keep waiting?

I'll check this out if I don't hear anything by Wednesday. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything that might help. Thanks for sharing the info!

Last month my brother had this same problem with his adjudication taking forever and he went to his state representative's office and they helped him! They have people who can contact ESD directly about constituent problems. Might be worth trying.

That's a great idea I hadn't considered! Did he just call their office or go in person? How long did it take after the representative got involved?

He emailed first then went in person. took about a week after that but they resolved it. just google your district representative

One more thing to check - make sure your identity verification is complete. Sometimes claims get stuck in adjudication because of ID verification issues, even if it doesn't specifically tell you that's the problem. Look under the "Upload Documents" section of your eServices account and see if there's anything pending there.

Just double-checked and my ID verification shows as complete with a green checkmark. Everything in my account looks perfect which makes this all the more frustrating. I wish they'd at least tell me what the holdup is!

Will do. I'm going to try calling my employer tomorrow, then try the Claimyr thing if needed, and also reach out to my state rep as someone suggested. I'll update here if anything actually works. Good luck with your claim too!

Quick update on holiday processing: While the ESD office is closed to the public on the holiday, some of their automated systems and processing still runs in the background. So while new actions requiring a human won't happen, some claims that were already in the final stages of processing might still move forward. Keep checking your account on Tuesday as they typically process a large batch after holidays.

That's a small ray of hope at least! I'll definitely be checking first thing Tuesday morning. Thanks for the insight!
