ESD claims filed by phone still stuck in IVR Processing status - anyone else?

So frustrated right now! I filed my initial unemployment claim over the phone on March 24th (couldn't get the website to work properly), and it's STILL showing 'Processing IVR' in my ESD account after almost 3 weeks. Has anyone else who filed by phone instead of online experienced this? The automated system said my claim was accepted when I called, but nothing seems to be happening. I've tried calling back multiple times but can't get through to a real person. My savings are almost gone and I'm starting to panic. Is this normal for phone applications or did something go wrong with my claim?

That's even longer than mine! Have you tried sending a message through your eServices account? I did that yesterday but no response yet.

This IVR processing status is unfortunately quite common with phone applications. The system that handles claims filed through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) processes them in batches and they often get stuck in this status longer than online applications. A few things you should do: 1. File your weekly claims regardless of your application status 2. Check your eServices messages daily for any adjudication questions 3. Try calling right when they open at 8:00am (that's when lines are least busy) 4. Make sure you've completed your MyClaim account setup fully Phone applications typically take 3-4 weeks to fully process compared to online applications which take 1-2 weeks. As long as you keep filing weekly claims, you'll get backpay once approved.

Thank you so much for this detailed information! I've been filing my weekly claims but wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do while still in processing. I'll keep doing that and try calling at 8am tomorrow.

I had the exact same problem!!! Filed by phone in February because my identity verification wasn't working online. It got stuck in IVR processing for FIVE WEEKS!!! I finally broke down and started calling 15-20 times a day. Finally got through on a Wednesday afternoon around 2:30. The agent told me my claim had actually been approved weeks earlier but the status hadn't updated in the system properly. They fixed it while I was on the phone and all my backpay came through two days later. KEEP CALLING!!!

Oh wow, that's both reassuring and frustrating! Did they explain why the system doesn't update properly? I'm worried my claim is just sitting there already approved. Five weeks is such a long time to wait without knowing what's happening.

They said something about the phone system and online system not syncing properly. The agent was surprised when I told her how long I'd been waiting. Said they're supposed to manually check for these "stuck" claims but they're understaffed. Keep doing your weekly filings though!!

The IVR processing delay is a complete failure of the ESD system that they REFUSE to acknowledge or fix! I waited SIX WEEKS last year after filing by phone. SIX!!! Every time I called they gave me a different excuse. First it was "system backlog" then "your employer hasn't responded" then "we need additional verification." LIES! When I finally got through to a supervisor, turns out my claim was just sitting there needing a simple approval that took them 30 seconds to do. The whole system is designed to frustrate people into giving up. DON'T GIVE UP!

I had this happen to me and discovered that my claim had actually been flagged for identity verification but they never sent me a notice about it! Check your spam folder and also log into your SAW account (not just eServices) to see if there are any tasks waiting for you there. Sometimes the notices don't show up in eServices but are in your main SAW account.

I just checked both my spam folder and SAW account and didn't see anything waiting. That's a good tip though - I wouldn't have thought to check both places!

I went through this nightmare in January and discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) which helped me get through to an ESD agent after weeks of trying on my own. They have this system that basically waits on hold for you and calls you back when an agent is on the line. It was the only way I could get my IVR processing status resolved. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent I finally talked to said claims filed by phone often need manual review because the IVR system can't validate all the information like the online system can. Once I got through, they fixed it right away and I got all my backpay within a week.

THIS! I used this service too when I was ready to pull my hair out. Got through to ESD in about 45 minutes when I'd been trying for DAYS on my own. Worth every penny especially when you're waiting on thousands in benefits that are stuck in their broken system.

I've never heard of this before but I'm getting desperate enough to try anything. Did they need a lot of personal information? I'm always cautious about those things.

They just need your phone number to call you back when they get an agent. I was skeptical too but it worked exactly as advertised. Once they connected me, I was talking directly to ESD and Claimyr wasn't involved anymore.

As a frequent advisor on these forums, I want to clarify a few things about the IVR Processing status: 1. It's specifically related to claims filed through the phone system 2. The status doesn't automatically update in eServices the way online applications do 3. Your claim could actually be processed/approved while still showing this status 4. ESD's internal systems actually have a more accurate status than what you see The fastest resolution is speaking directly with an agent. Keep calling and focus on early morning or late afternoon times. Until resolved, make sure you continue filing weekly claims - this is CRITICAL. Once your initial claim is processed, you'll only receive benefits for weeks you've properly certified.

This is really helpful, thank you! It's reassuring to know my claim might actually be moving forward even though the status hasn't changed. I'll definitely keep filing my weekly claims.

I filed by phone too back in January lol and mine was stuck for like 2 weeks but then suddenly changed to processing and then approved all in one day... had a friend who works at WorkSource who told me that sometimes the IVR claims get batched together and processed all at once instead of continuously like the online ones... so maybe yours is in a batch that hasn't been processed yet?

That would actually make a lot of sense! It's frustrating that they don't explain these things anywhere on their website. I hope my batch gets processed soon.
