EDD Claim Finally Approved - What to Expect for First Payment?
Hey everyone, I just got some good news! My claim was finally approved. It's been such a long and frustrating process, but I'm feeling relieved. Has anyone else recently had their claim approved? I'm wondering what the next steps are and when I can expect to see my first payment. Any advice or experiences would be really helpful!

Congrats on getting approved! 🎉 That's a huge relief, I bet. When I got approved, it took about 2 weeks to get my first payment. Make sure you keep certifying each week tho, even while waiting for that first deposit to hit your account.

•Thanks so much! That's really helpful to know. I'll definitely keep certifying. Did you have to do anything else after getting approved, or did the payments just start automatically?

•Nah, you should be good to go. Just keep certifying and the money should start rolling in. If you don't see anything after 3 weeks, then maybe give em a call. But you should be all set!

Ugh, you're so lucky. I've been stuck in pending for months now. Can't get anyone on the phone either. This whole system is a joke 🤡

•Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

•Yeah, I've tried everything. Early morning, late afternoon, even tried faxing (who even has a fax machine anymore?!). No luck. It's like they're ghosting me 👻

•I feel ya. Was in the same boat until I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. Used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. Costs $20 but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ

•For real? That sounds too good to be true. Did it actually work?

•Yeah, it did! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through to an agent in about 2 hours. Way better than waiting on hold all day myself.

•idk man, paying to get through to a government service we already pay for with our taxes? seems sketchy af

•I get it, but when you're waiting months for thousands of dollars, $20 seemed worth it to me. To each their own tho 🤷♂️

Does anyone know if there's a way to check the status of your claim online? I'm tired of being on hold for hours only to get disconnected 😤

Pro tip: if you're having trouble getting your claim approved, try reaching out to your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things through faster. Worked for me!

•This is great advice! I did this too and it really helped speed things up. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself!

Just a heads up for everyone - there's been some changes to the certification process. Make sure you're answering the new questions correctly or it could delay your payments. I learned this the hard way 😅

•Wait, what changes? I haven't heard about this. Can you give more details?

•Sure! They added some questions about job search activities. You need to list at least 3 job contacts per week now. Also, be careful with the question about refusing work - if you say yes, it can trigger a review.

•Oh snap, thanks for the info! I better double check my last certification 😬

Has anyone else noticed that the payment amounts seem to be all over the place? Some weeks I get the full amount, others it's like half. Makes budgeting a nightmare 🙃

ATTENTION EVERYONE: If you're having issues with your claim, here's a comprehensive guide on what to do: 1. Keep certifying every week, even if you're not getting paid yet. 2. Document everything - keep a log of all your calls, emails, and certifications. 3. Check your spam folder regularly for emails from the unemployment office. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try using the online chat feature (if available in your state). 5. Reach out to your local state representative or senator for help. 6. Join Facebook groups or subreddits for your state's unemployment - lots of helpful info there. 7. If all else fails, consider using a paid service like Claimyr to get through to an agent. 8. Be patient but persistent. The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing! Hope this helps someone out there. We're all in this together! 💪

•Great list! I'd add one more thing - if you're able, set aside some of your payments when they do come through. You never know when there might be a gap or delay.

•Question about #3 - I've never gotten an email from them. Is that normal or should I be concerned?

•It can vary by state, but some offices do send important updates via email. If you're concerned, double-check that they have the correct email on file for you. You can usually do this through your online account.

Congrats Diego! 🎉 That's awesome news after what I'm sure was a stressful wait. I just went through the same thing a few weeks ago. My first payment took about 10-12 days to hit my account after approval, but like Anastasia said, definitely keep up with your weekly certifications while you wait. Also make sure your direct deposit info is correct in your account - that can cause delays if there are any issues. Once that first payment comes through, the following ones should be much more regular. Hang in there, you're almost at the finish line!
