Can't find fact-finding interview questions after ESD adjudication letter - help!

I just got this letter from ESD saying "Adjudication scheduled" and it tells me to log into eServices, go to Claimant Homepage, and click on links under "Issues Delaying Payment" to complete some fact-finding interview questions. Problem is, when I logged in, I can't see ANY links or anything about fact-finding questions! I've looked through every tab and section of my account. Has anyone dealt with this before? The adjudication date is next Tuesday and I'm freaking out because if I don't complete these questions, will they just deny my claim automatically? This is my first time dealing with unemployment and I really need this money to cover rent next month.

omg same thing happened to me last month!! the system is so glitchy sometimes. try clearing your cache and using a different browser. for some reason chrome never works right with the esd site for me but firefox does

Really? I'll try Firefox then. Did your questions eventually show up? How long did it take for your adjudication to get resolved?

There's actually a specific timing issue with their system. The fact-finding questions usually appear 24-48 hours after you receive the adjudication letter. It's frustrating because the letter makes it sound like they should be there immediately. I'd recommend checking your account twice daily until they appear. Also, make sure you're looking in the correct section - sometimes they're not under "Issues Delaying Payment" but under "Alerts" or "Tasks" depending on what type of adjudication issue they're investigating.

Oh! That makes sense. I'll keep checking then. Do you know if they'll send an email notification when the questions appear or do I just have to keep logging in to check?

The ESD system is a complete DISASTER!!! I had the exact same problem and spent 4 DAYS trying to get through to someone on the phone. They kept disconnecting me after waiting for 3+ hours each time. I eventually found a service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual ESD agent in about 30 minutes. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and their website is claimyr.com. The agent told me sometimes the fact-finding questions don't appear if there's a specific type of adjudication that requires a phone interview instead. Might be worth checking if that's your situation.

is that service legit? seems kinda sketchy to pay someone just to make a phone call for you...

It's totally legitimate - they don't make the call for you, they just help you skip the ESD phone queue. You still talk directly to ESD yourself. After wasting literally days trying to get through myself, it was worth every penny.

I work with unemployment claims frequently, and this is a common issue. Here's what you need to know: 1. Fact-finding questions are tied to specific issues on your claim. If your letter mentions adjudication, but there are no questions showing up, it likely means your particular issue requires a phone interview rather than online questions. 2. Double-check that you're looking in eServices (sometimes called UI online) and not SecureAccess Washington (SAW). People often confuse the two systems. 3. If your adjudication is scheduled for next Tuesday, that's probably the date of your phone interview. Check if the letter includes a specific time they'll call you. 4. ESD doesn't always notify you when online questions are added - you need to proactively check your account. 5. If you want to be proactive, you can upload documents related to your case through the "Upload Documents" section - things like employment verification, separation notices, or pay stubs depending on what your adjudication is about.

Thank you SO much for this detailed info! I just double-checked my letter and you're right - it does mention a phone interview in small print at the bottom that I totally missed. It says they'll call between 1-3pm on Tuesday. Should I prepare anything specific for the interview?

Great that you found the interview details! You should prepare by having these items ready: 1. Your employment history for the last 18 months (dates, employer names, pay rates) 2. Any documentation related to your separation (termination letter, resignation email, layoff notice) 3. Notes about why you left each job 4. Record of any job search activities you've done so far Have all this information easily accessible during the call. Be honest, concise, and stick to facts rather than emotions during the interview. Good luck!

lol they sent me the same letter twice and then never called me for the interview. had to file an appeal and wait another 6 weeks before I got any money. the whole system is a joke honestly.

This happened to my cousin too! ESD scheduled an interview, never called, then denied his claim for "failure to participate" even though he sat by his phone for hours waiting. He had to appeal and it was such a mess. Make sure you document EVERYTHING - take screenshots of your online account, write down every time you call, keep copies of all letters. The system is designed to make you give up.

One more important tip: When they call, it will likely show as "No Caller ID" or "Private Number" on your phone. Make sure you answer ALL calls during your scheduled window, even if they look like spam. If you miss their call, they'll rarely try again the same day, and it can delay your claim by weeks.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll answer every call during that window, even if it looks like spam. Hopefully they actually call as scheduled.

When i had adjudication they actually emailed me the questions instead of putting them on the website. did you check your email including spam folder? sometimes ESD emails come from weird addresses that look like spam

UPDATE: You guys were right! I just checked my email's spam folder and found an email from ESD with a link to the fact-finding questions! It was sent yesterday but went straight to spam. Thank you all for your help - especially the person who mentioned checking email. I'm completing the questions now before my phone interview on Tuesday. Will update again after the interview to let you know how it went!

Great news! Make sure you complete those questions ASAP as there's often a deadline. Even though you have a phone interview scheduled, completing the online questions first gives the adjudicator time to review your answers before the call. This usually makes the phone interview go much faster and smoother since they'll already have your basic information.

So glad you found the questions in your spam folder! Just wanted to add - when you're doing the phone interview on Tuesday, they might ask you to verify some of the answers you gave in the online questions, so keep a copy of what you submitted handy during the call. Also, if you have any documents that support your answers (like your last paystub, separation notice, etc.), have those ready too in case they ask you to upload or fax them after the interview. The whole process can feel overwhelming but you're doing great by staying on top of it!

This is such helpful advice! I definitely didn't think about keeping copies of my online answers for the phone call. I just finished submitting the questions and took screenshots of everything before hitting submit. Really appreciate everyone in this community being so supportive - as a first-timer with unemployment this whole process has been super stressful but you all made it so much less scary!

Just want to echo what others have said about keeping documentation - I went through this process a few months ago and having everything organized saved me so much stress. One thing I'd add is to also write down the name of whoever you speak with during the phone interview and ask for a reference number for the call. Sometimes there are follow-up questions or they need additional documents, and having that info makes it way easier to reference your case when you call back. Also, don't be surprised if the interview runs longer than expected - mine was scheduled for 15 minutes but ended up being almost 45 minutes because they had to verify employment details with multiple previous employers. Good luck with your interview on Tuesday!

This is all such great advice! I'm definitely going to write down the interviewer's name and ask for a reference number - that's something I never would have thought of. It's also good to know the interview might run long so I'll make sure to block out extra time and not schedule anything right after. Thanks to everyone who's shared their experiences here, it really helps knowing what to expect going into this process!

Hey! I'm dealing with something similar right now - got my adjudication letter yesterday and was panicking about not seeing the questions online. Reading through all these responses has been SO helpful! I didn't realize the questions might come via email instead of showing up directly in eServices. Just checked my spam folder and sure enough, there's an email from ESD that I completely missed. You all probably saved me from missing my deadline! Quick question though - for those who've been through this process, is there usually a specific deadline mentioned for completing the online questions, or do you just need to finish them before your phone interview? My letter is pretty vague about timing.
