Hope everything works out for you OP. Toxic work environments are no joke and can really mess with your health. Just make sure you protect yourself financially while you figure out your next steps. There are resources out there to help, you just have to know where to look.
For what it's worth, I've been using claimyr too when I need to reach Washington ESD quickly. Their service has been pretty reliable and saves me from spending entire days trying to get through. Might be worth the cost if you need definitive answers before making major life decisions.
Several people have mentioned claimyr now, so it sounds like it might be worth checking out. I'll look into it this week.
Just wanted to update everyone - my claim that was stuck in awaiting processing for 18 days finally got approved this morning! Hang in there everyone, it does eventually happen.
This thread has been really helpful. I was starting to think there was something wrong with my claim since it's been awaiting processing for 2 weeks, but sounds like that's totally normal. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!
Good luck with your claim! The initial setup is definitely the most confusing part, but once you get into the routine of weekly filing it becomes pretty automatic.
Just to follow up on the Claimyr thing since a few people asked - I ended up using it twice during my unemployment period when I had issues that needed agent assistance. Both times they got me connected within reasonable time frames when I couldn't get through on my own. Sometimes you just need that extra help navigating the system.
One more tip - if you're really tight on money, some food banks and churches can help with groceries while you're waiting for that first unemployment payment. No shame in getting help when you need it.

Don't forget that even if you qualify for unemployment with restrictions, you'll still need to file your weekly claims and report any work or income. The rules don't change just because you have medical limitations.

•Good reminder. I assume you still have to report any part-time work or gig work too?

•Yep, anything you earn has to be reported. They'll reduce your benefits accordingly but you can usually still get partial unemployment.

Thanks everyone for all the info. Sounds like the answer is 'it depends' but there's definitely a possibility of getting unemployment if you're injured outside of work. The key seems to be proving you're still able to work in some capacity and actively job searching.

•That's a good summary. Every situation is different so it's worth talking to Washington ESD directly if you find yourself in this position.

•Definitely helpful to know it's at least possible. Hopefully I never have to deal with this but good to understand the process just in case.
