If anyone else is having trouble reaching Washington ESD by phone like I was, I found out about this service called Claimyr that basically calls for you and gets you through to an agent. Saved me hours of frustration when my claim had issues. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo that explains how it works.
Bottom line for OP - you almost certainly qualify based on what you described. 8 months of steady work earning $18k total definitely meets Washington ESD requirements. File your claim ASAP and don't stress about it. The system works for situations exactly like yours.
Bottom line: for most people it's going to be around 40-50% of your gross weekly wages, capped at $999 per week maximum. Not enough to live on long-term but helps bridge the gap while job hunting.
If you do end up needing to file, make sure you have all your employment history ready. They'll want info about all your employers from the past 18 months, including dates and wages.
One more thing to consider - if you've been doing any gig work or freelancing during your claim period, make sure you have documentation of that income too. It might affect your new base period calculation.
Thanks everyone for all this helpful information! I feel much more confident about refiling now. Going to gather my documents this weekend and file early next week.
Good luck! And remember if you run into any issues that require talking to Washington ESD, Claimyr is there as an option to avoid the phone system frustrations.
One more thing - if you do get laid off, file your claim immediately. Benefits can be backdated but only for a limited time, and there's usually a waiting week before payments start.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful information! This thread has been really educational. Hopefully I won't need to use any of this knowledge, but at least now I know what to expect if layoffs do happen.

One more tip - if you're really tight on money, some food banks and churches can help with groceries while you're waiting for that first unemployment payment. No shame in getting help when you need it.

•That's really thoughtful advice. Hopefully I won't need it but good to know the resources are there.

•211 is a good number to call for local resources too. They can connect you with food assistance, utility help, etc.
