The system can be confusing at first but it gets easier once you understand the process. Just remember - file early, be honest about everything, and keep up with your weekly claims even during the waiting period.
One last thing - make sure you're prepared for the job search requirements. Washington ESD requires you to make at least 3 job search contacts per week and keep a detailed log. Start tracking your job search activities from day one.
One more thing - if you have any issues with your claim getting stuck or need to speak with someone at Washington ESD, that Claimyr service really does work. I was skeptical too but when you're desperate to talk to someone and can't get through, it's worth it. Check out their demo video to see how it works.
Better to know about it before you need it. Wish I had known about Claimyr when I was going through my claim issues last year.
Good luck with your claim! The process can be intimidating at first but once you get started it's not too bad. Just make sure to keep filing those weekly claims every week.
Quick tip - make sure your address is updated with Washington ESD or your benefit payments might get delayed. Learned that the hard way when I moved apartments.
The whole benefit calculation seems designed to be confusing on purpose. Like they don't want people to know how much they're entitled to. At least this thread helped me understand it better!
Also remember that your first week is usually a waiting week where you don't get paid, but you still need to file the weekly claim. It's not like you skip filing that week.

Had issues reaching Washington ESD about my partial claim questions too. Ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier - totally worth it to actually talk to a real person who could explain the wage reporting requirements clearly.

•I'm definitely going to look into that. These phone wait times are ridiculous.

•Yeah, saved me probably 10+ hours of sitting on hold. The agent was able to walk me through exactly how to report my irregular part-time schedule.

Bottom line - yes you can file for unemployment while working part-time. Just be honest, report everything accurately, keep good records, and stay on top of your weekly filings. The system is designed to help people transitioning back to full-time work.

•Thank you everyone! This has been incredibly helpful. I feel much more confident about filing now.

•Good luck! Remember that partial unemployment is there to help bridge the gap while you're looking for better employment. Use it wisely.
