One thing I learned is that if you get a job offer and turn it down, you need to have a good reason or Washington ESD might disqualify you from benefits. They consider turning down suitable work as not being available for work.
Generally work that matches your skills and experience, though the standards can change over time. After a certain period they expect you to consider jobs that pay less than your previous job.
Just wanted to add that if you have any complex issues with your claim, like if it goes into adjudication or you get a disqualification notice, definitely try to reach a Washington ESD representative. The automated system and website can only help so much with complicated situations.
This is where Claimyr really comes in handy. When you have urgent issues that need to be resolved quickly, waiting days or weeks to get through to Washington ESD can really hurt your claim. I used it when I got an overpayment notice that I needed to dispute.
Washington ESD really needs to fix their communication. Even just automated updates about where your claim stands would help with the anxiety.
Update from earlier - got my determination today! Approved and backpay is processing. Using that calling service really made the difference in getting answers when I was stuck.
I tried using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it actually worked! Got through to Washington ESD in about 10 minutes instead of calling all day. Definitely worth it if your claim gets complicated.
Bottom line: file your claim regardless of at-will status. Worst case they deny you and you appeal. Best case you get approved and start receiving benefits. The at-will employment type is not a factor in the eligibility determination.
Don't forget you'll need to register with WorkSourceWA too for the job search requirements. It's a separate system but required for unemployment benefits.

Check if your county has any local assistance programs too. Some counties have emergency rent/utility assistance even if you don't qualify for other state programs.

•That's a good idea. I'll look into what King County has available.

•Also check with 211 - they have info on all kinds of local assistance programs you might not know about.

I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier when I had issues with my claim being stuck in adjudication. Really helped me get through to someone at Washington ESD who could actually resolve my problem instead of just giving me the runaround.

•I'm not sure about specific pricing but it was worth it for me given how much time I was wasting trying to call on my own. Check their website for current rates.
