One last tip - make sure all your employer information is accurate on your application. Wrong info can cause delays or affect your benefit calculation since Washington ESD verifies everything with your past employers.
Has anyone else noticed that Washington ESD's website crashes during peak hours? I keep getting error messages when I try to file my weekly claim on Sunday evenings.
This is another reason why being able to call and speak to someone is so valuable. When the website isn't working, you need alternatives. Claimyr has been a lifesaver for situations like this.
If you're really worried about timing, you might want to look into local food banks or assistance programs while you wait. No shame in using resources that are there to help during transitions.
Bottom line: plan for 3-4 weeks minimum, hope for 2 weeks, and have backup plans if it takes longer. The system works but it's not fast, especially for first-time filers.
And if you do run into issues getting through to Washington ESD, remember that Claimyr option. Sometimes you just need to talk to an actual person to resolve things quickly.
washington esd is so backed up right now... took forever to get through when I had questions about my claim status. definitely file asap though
Good luck with everything! Being fired doesn't automatically disqualify you so definitely worth filing. Keep all your documentation organized in case you need it later.
And remember if you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD about your case, Claimyr is there as an option when the phone lines are jammed.

This thread is really helpful! I was in almost the exact same situation as OP - worked at one job for about 6 months, then another for 10 months before getting laid off. I was worried about not having enough work history but sounds like I should be fine. Thanks everyone!

•Yeah definitely sounds like you'd qualify. The Washington ESD website has a calculator tool too if you want to estimate your weekly benefit amount.

One more thing - if you do end up needing to talk to Washington ESD about your eligibility or any other questions, I've heard good things about that Claimyr service people mentioned. My cousin used it when she had issues with her claim and said it saved her tons of time and frustration.

•I'm definitely going to look into that if I run into problems. The phone system seems like a nightmare from what everyone says.

•It really is. I spent literally 8 hours one day trying to get through and never talked to anyone.
