Thanks everyone for all the info. I'm feeling much more confident about dealing with my exhausted claim now. Going to try calling Washington ESD tomorrow to discuss my options.
Good luck! And remember that Claimyr option if you have trouble getting through.
Just to add one more point - make sure you apply for jobs and keep your job search log updated even while you're figuring out the exhausted claim situation. You don't want to fall behind on those requirements if you do end up qualifying for a new claim.
Just wanted to add that vacation payout is treated the same as severance usually. If you got both, report both but don't stress about it. Washington ESD handles this stuff all the time.
Last thought - if you end up needing to talk to Washington ESD about your severance and can't get through on the phone, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier actually works. I was skeptical at first but they got me through to an agent when I'd been trying for days on my own.
Good to have that as a backup option. Hopefully I won't need it but it's reassuring to know it exists.
Exactly. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human to get clarity on these things, and Claimyr makes that possible when the regular phone system fails you.
The key takeaway is that it's not about how long you worked at one job, but your total covered wages during the base period. As long as you meet the dollar amounts and worked for at least two quarters, you should qualify regardless of how long you were at your most recent job.
Just went through this process myself last month. The key is being patient and thorough. Washington ESD moves slowly but if you provide accurate information and follow up when needed, it works out. Don't panic if it takes a few weeks to get your first payment.
Had to verify my identity which added about a week, but otherwise straightforward. The hardest part was getting through on the phone when I had questions, which is why I ended up using Claimyr to reach an agent.
Don't forget that you can start your application and save it if you need to gather more information. You don't have to complete everything in one session.

One more thing to consider - if you quit and your claim gets denied initially, you can appeal but you need to do it quickly. I think you only have 30 days from the determination letter to file an appeal with Washington ESD.

•Good to know about the deadline. I'll make sure to watch for that if I end up in that situation.

•And during the appeals process, keep looking for work and documenting your job search. Even if you're not getting benefits yet, you want to show you're meeting all the requirements.

This thread has been really helpful. I'm in a somewhat similar situation and didn't know about the good cause provisions. Going to start documenting everything now just in case I need to use this information later.

•Glad it's been helpful for you too. It's such a stressful situation to be in but at least knowing our options helps.

•Definitely start that documentation now rather than trying to remember everything later. Dates and details matter a lot for these cases.
