I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier when I had questions about my termination benefits. Really did help me get through to an agent quickly instead of spending my whole day on hold.
One thing to keep in mind - even if you get approved, there might be a waiting period before benefits start. Plan accordingly for your first few weeks.
Just remember that if your employer doesn't show up to the hearing, it doesn't automatically mean you win. The judge still has to determine if you had good cause to quit based on the evidence you present.
The appeal hearing recording is your friend. They record everything so if there are any issues with the decision you can point to exactly what was said during the hearing.
One thing I learned is that temporary work through staffing agencies can be tricky to report correctly. Make sure you understand whether you're an employee or contractor because it affects how you report the income.
Bottom line: you can work while on unemployment but you have to report everything honestly and understand how it affects your benefits. The 1.5x your weekly benefit amount rule is key to remember.
Quick question - does it matter what type of job I had or why I was laid off when it comes to severance and unemployment? I was in management and got a pretty generous severance package.
I wish someone had explained all this to me when I got laid off. I ended up not filing for unemployment for 6 weeks because I thought the severance made me ineligible. Lost out on benefits I could have received.

Update: I tried that Claimyr thing and actually got through to a Washington ESD agent today! They confirmed my claim status and explained what was causing the delay. Definitely worth using if you need to talk to someone.

•They have different options but it was worth it for me since I'd been trying to call for weeks with no luck.

The good news is once you see 'not disqualified' the hard part is over. Your claim is approved and you just need to wait for the payments to start processing. Keep filing weekly and you should be all set.
