If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

The silver lining of high unemployment is that employers and landlords are usually more understanding about employment gaps. They know it's not necessarily your fault when lots of people are out of work.

0 coins

I hope that's true. I'm worried about explaining this gap when I do start interviewing again.

0 coins

Just be honest about the economic situation. Most reasonable employers understand that layoffs happen during tough times.

0 coins

Bottom line is high unemployment affects the big picture but your individual claim should be processed the same way. Focus on making sure you've provided all required information and keep filing your weekly claims on time.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful information. I feel much better understanding how this all works now.

Make sure your paper addresses regional variations too. What's considered the most serious unemployment type can vary by geographic area and local economic conditions.

0 coins

Good point! So my answer might need to be more nuanced than just picking one type.

0 coins

Exactly. Academic answers often require that kind of nuanced analysis rather than simple categorical statements.

This has been a really helpful discussion! It sounds like structural unemployment is generally considered most serious by economists and policymakers because it requires the most intervention and persists even during economic growth, but the answer should acknowledge the complexity and context-dependent nature of unemployment policy.

Thanks everyone! This gave me a much better understanding for my paper. I really appreciate all the different perspectives and examples.

Good luck with your paper! Remember to cite both theoretical sources and practical examples from agencies like Washington ESD.

The fact that you worked steadily through 2023 is definitely in your favor. Even with the delay in applying, you should have qualifying wages in your base period.

0 coins

That's reassuring. I was a good employee there for over two years before the layoff.

One thing that confused me at first - you file your initial claim for the week you become unemployed, but then you file weekly claims going forward. So if you lost your job on Wednesday, you'd still file for that full week.

0 coins

So the initial claim and weekly claims are different things?

0 coins

Right - initial claim establishes your benefit amount and eligibility. Weekly claims are what you file every week to actually receive payments.

0 coins

Bottom line - if you lost your job through no fault of your own and worked enough in the past year, you probably qualify for unemployment benefits in Washington. The weekly amount varies but it's designed to replace part of your lost income while you find new work.

Good luck with your application! Don't hesitate to reach out here if you run into any issues.

And remember, if you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD directly, Claimyr is there to help you get through their phone system. Made all the difference for me!

One more thing to check - log into your Washington ESD account and look at your 'Payment History' section specifically. Sometimes the waiting week payment shows up there even if it doesn't appear in your regular weekly payment list. It might be listed as a separate transaction type.

0 coins

I'll check that right now. Thanks for the tip!

Good suggestion. The Washington ESD website layout can be confusing and payments sometimes show up in unexpected places.

OP, did you ever figure this out? I'm having the exact same issue and found this thread while searching for answers.

0 coins

Let me know how that goes! I might need to do the same thing.

Following this thread too. Same situation here - been getting regular benefits for 5 weeks but no waiting week payment.
