If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Bottom line - unemployment benefits and Social Security are completely separate. File for your UI benefits with confidence, and don't let this worry keep you from getting the help you need while you're looking for work.

Thanks everyone for all the reassurance and information. I'm going to file my claim today!

Had the same concern when I was 63 and got laid off. Talked to someone at Social Security directly and they confirmed zero interaction between the two programs. Your future SS benefits are safe!

0 coins

Perfect - that's exactly the confirmation I needed. Really appreciate everyone's help with this question.

Glad we could help clear this up for you. Good luck with your job search!

Quick question - if your employer eventually pays you the back wages, do you have to pay back the unemployment benefits?

0 coins

Yes, you would need to report any back pay to Washington ESD. Depending on the timing and amounts, you might need to repay some benefits. Always report changes in your situation.

0 coins

Good question. I'll make sure to report it if my employer ever catches up on the missed payments.

Thanks for sharing your experience OP. This is exactly the kind of real-world situation that the unemployment system should handle smoothly, but it's clearly not as straightforward as it should be.

0 coins

Yeah, it definitely wasn't straightforward. Without help from people here and that Claimyr service, I would have been stuck.

0 coins

The system really needs to be more user-friendly. People shouldn't need special services just to talk to a government agency.

0 coins

One more thing - if you do get approved for both, make sure you report the disability income on your weekly unemployment claims. Failure to report other income is considered fraud even if it's an oversight.

0 coins

Good point. I'll make sure to be completely transparent about everything if I move forward.

0 coins

LongPeri

Exactly right. Always report all income sources on your weekly claims to avoid issues later.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. This has been really helpful in understanding what I'm dealing with. I'm going to contact Washington ESD and get official guidance before making any decisions.

0 coins

Good luck! And seriously consider using Claimyr if you can't get through on the phone. It made all the difference for me.

0 coins

Hope it works out for you. These situations are never easy but at least you're being smart about it.

Also remember that your benefit amount can change if Washington ESD gets updated wage information from employers. Sometimes they issue a redetermination letter if new earnings data comes in after your initial calculation.

0 coins

Good point, I'll keep an eye out for any updated letters.

0 coins

Yeah this happened to me and my benefits actually went up when they got my final quarter wages from my employer.

0 coins

If you're still confused about your calculation after reading all these explanations, definitely try to get someone from Washington ESD on the phone. I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it was worth it just to get a clear explanation directly from an agent.

0 coins

Thanks everyone for all the helpful explanations! I think I understand it much better now.

This thread was really helpful for me too. I never fully understood the quarterly calculation before.

For anyone who ends up needing to call Washington ESD about severance questions or other complicated situations, I really recommend checking out that Claimyr service. Getting through to an actual human who can explain your specific situation is so much better than trying to guess from the website.

0 coins

I'll definitely keep that in mind if I run into any issues with my claim. Thanks for mentioning it!

0 coins

Yeah I've heard good things about services like that. Sometimes you just need to talk to someone who can look at your actual account and explain what's happening.

0 coins

One more question - if my severance is paid out over several months instead of one lump sum, does that change anything for Washington ESD?

0 coins

The payment schedule doesn't matter - they still calculate it as total severance divided by the weeks it's meant to cover. Whether you get it all at once or spread out, the UI benefit offset calculation stays the same.

0 coins

Perfect, that's what I was hoping. Thanks for clarifying!
