One final thought - if you do decide to quit, make sure you understand exactly what 'good cause' means in Washington state. It's a legal standard and not just your personal opinion about whether the situation was bad. The more you can align your documentation with their definition, the better your chances.
Thanks everyone for all the advice. I feel much more informed about my options now. I'm going to spend some time documenting everything and then make a decision about whether to quit or try to stick it out longer.
Feel free to update us on how it goes. And remember about Claimyr if you need help getting through to Washington ESD once you file.
One more plug for Claimyr if anyone's having trouble reaching Washington ESD. I was skeptical at first but when my claim got stuck in adjudication for weeks, I used their service and finally got answers. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person.
Quick tip - when you file, you'll create an account with SecureAccess Washington if you don't already have one. Write down your login info and keep it safe because you'll need to log in every week to file your weekly claim.
Don't overthink it - just file now. Washington ESD has made the process pretty straightforward online. The most important thing is getting your claim started so you can begin the waiting period and get your case in the queue for processing.
Last thing - keep all your documents organized. Pay stubs, termination letter, any correspondence from Washington ESD. You never know when you might need them.

The key thing is just getting started. The longer you wait, the more benefits you potentially lose since they don't backdate to when you became unemployed, only to when you applied.

•You got this! It's not as scary as it seems once you get through the first application.

Last tip - keep a notebook or folder with all your unemployment stuff. You'll get a lot of paperwork and it helps to stay organized.

•Smart idea. I'll set up a dedicated folder on my computer too for digital stuff.

•Yeah and scan physical documents in case something gets lost in the mail. Washington ESD loves their paperwork!
