Don't forget you can also check your claim status by calling the automated line at 1-800-318-6022. It's not perfect but sometimes gives you a bit more info than the website.
The approval process can feel like forever when you're waiting. I remember checking my account constantly. Now I tell everyone - file your weekly claims religiously and try not to stress too much about the timeline.
Don't wait too long to file! You have to file within a certain timeframe after becoming unemployed or you could lose benefits for those weeks. Even if you're not sure you'll qualify, it's better to file and let them decide than to miss the window entirely.
One more thing - if Washington ESD approves your claim, you'll still need to meet all the regular requirements like job searching and filing weekly claims. Don't assume the hard part is over once you get approved. The ongoing requirements are just as important.
You need to make at least 3 job search activities per week and keep detailed records. Check the WorkSource WA website for the most current requirements and acceptable activities.
Those Claimyr folks mentioned earlier might be able to help clarify the current requirements too if you can't get through to ESD directly.
One more thing to remember - keep a copy of your 1099-G with your tax records. You'll need it if there are ever any questions about your filing.
Whatever you do, don't wait too long to file. There are time limits on when you can apply for benefits. Better to file now and potentially get denied than to wait and miss your chance entirely.
Good luck with your claim! Remember that Washington ESD has to prove you committed misconduct - you don't have to prove you didn't. If your absences were due to emergencies, that's a strong defense.

One last thing - make sure you understand the difference between your weekly benefit amount and your maximum benefit amount. Your weekly amount is what you get each week, but your maximum is the total you can receive over the entire benefit year.

•That makes sense. So if I get $500 a week, my maximum would be $500 x 26 weeks = $13,000 total?

•Exactly! You've got it figured out now.

Good luck with your claim! The whole process can be stressful but once you get through the initial filing it's pretty routine. Just don't forget to file your weekly claims on time or you'll lose benefits.
