been reading this thread and wanted to add that if you have standing issues (like im on standby for my union job) the payment schedule can be different. mine usually comes a day later than regular UI payments
One last tip - set up text alerts through your bank app if you can. That way you'll know the second your unemployment payment hits instead of constantly checking your balance. Saved my sanity when I was worried about payment timing.
Last piece of advice - save all your documentation. Keep copies of your layoff notice, pay stubs, job applications, correspondence with Washington ESD, everything. If there are ever any questions or audits, having good records will save you a lot of headaches.
Just wanted to add that if you do have trouble reaching Washington ESD by phone and need to talk to someone, that Claimyr service mentioned earlier really does work. I used it when I had questions about my job search requirements and they got me through to someone who could give me specific answers about my situation. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person instead of trying to figure everything out from the website.
It's reassuring to know there are options if I can't get through the normal way. Hopefully the process goes smoothly but good to have backup plans.
Don't forget that once you're approved, you'll get backpay for all the weeks you were waiting as long as you filed your weekly claims. So even though the waiting sucks, you won't lose out on the money.
Just remember to keep documenting your job search activities during this waiting period too. When you do get approved, you'll need to show you've been actively looking for work the whole time.
For anyone still confused: File your weekly claim every Sunday by midnight PT for the week that just ended (Sunday through Saturday). That's it. Mark your calendars!
One more Claimyr mention since people are asking about it - I used them when I had issues with my weekly claim processing and needed to talk to someone at ESD urgently. The video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ explains it better than I can, but basically they save you the headache of trying to get through yourself.

Just to wrap up - make sure you file your weekly claims on time even while your initial claim is pending. Missing weekly claims can cause delays or issues with your benefits. Set a reminder on your phone or calendar.

•Great tip. I'll make sure to stay on top of the weekly claims once I file.

•Weekly claims are super important. Don't skip them even if you're not sure about your eligibility yet.

Hope everything works out for you! Getting fired is tough but unemployment benefits are there for exactly this reason. Don't feel bad about using them - you paid into the system and deserve the support.
