I ended up using that Claimyr thing someone mentioned and it actually worked great. Got through to Washington ESD in like 15 minutes instead of spending all day redialing. The agent was able to explain exactly when my payment would hit my account.
One more thing - make sure you're ready to start filing weekly claims right away after your initial claim. Even during the waiting period, you need to keep up with your weekly claims to maintain your eligibility. Set a reminder for yourself to file every week.
Just want to echo what everyone else is saying - file immediately after your last day of work. I've been through this process twice and both times filing early made everything smoother. Washington ESD is pretty good about walking you through the steps once you get started.
I'm dealing with the same thing - 5 weeks in adjudication with no updates. The uncertainty is killing me. At least if they gave us a timeline or status update it would be more bearable.
For anyone still struggling to get through to Washington ESD, I had success with Claimyr last month. They got me connected to someone who could actually see my case details and explain what was happening. Worth checking out if you're desperate for answers.
Same experience here. Claimyr saved me weeks of frustration trying to get through the normal way.
I'll be honest, dealing with Washington ESD has been one of the most stressful parts of being unemployed. The uncertainty about benefits, the confusing terminology, the impossible phone system. Thank god for forums like this where real people share actual experiences.
Bottom line for the original poster - you have up to 26 weeks of benefits to use within your benefit year. Use them wisely, keep filing weekly, meet the job search requirements, and start taking the job hunt seriously sooner rather than later. The weeks go by fast.

One more thing - if you receive severance pay, that might affect when your unemployment benefits can start. It doesn't disqualify you permanently but might delay when payments begin.

•How does severance affect the timing?

•Washington ESD treats severance as wages for the period it's intended to cover, so you might have to wait until that period ends before benefits start.

The Claimyr thing mentioned earlier actually worked great for me too. I was stuck in adjudication hell for my disqualification issue and couldn't get through to anyone. Used their service and got connected to an agent who walked me through exactly what documentation I needed to provide. Saved me probably months of frustration.

•Is it legit though? Seems too good to be true that you can just skip the wait times.

•Totally legit. They don't do anything you couldn't do yourself, they just handle the calling process so you don't have to sit on hold for hours or get disconnected.
