Consider consulting with a disability attorney too, especially if your case is complex. Many offer free consultations and can help you navigate both the disability application and any potential conflicts with UI benefits.
The bottom line is that it IS possible to collect both, but you have to be very careful about how you present your situation to each agency. Honesty is key, but so is understanding how to frame your current abilities vs future prognosis.
Just wanted to follow up on the Claimyr service I mentioned earlier - I've used it twice now when I needed to speak with ESD agents and it's been worth it both times. Much better than spending hours on hold or getting disconnected.
You basically give them your info and they handle the calling and waiting for you. When they get an agent on the line, they connect you directly. The demo video explains it better than I can.
Bottom line: plan for 3 weeks minimum from filing to first payment. If it happens faster, great! If it takes longer, at least you were prepared financially.
Last bit of advice - keep your claim active even if you think you might have found a job. Don't stop filing weekly claims until you've actually started working and are sure the job is going to work out. You can always stop filing but it's harder to restart if things don't work out.
Good luck with everything! The system isn't perfect but it does work. Just be patient and don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it. This forum is a great resource and there are people here who've dealt with pretty much every situation.
For what it's worth, I tried that Claimyr service when my determination was taking forever and I needed to check on my claim status. It actually worked - got connected to someone at Washington ESD within minutes instead of sitting on hold for hours. Turned out my claim was fine, just taking normal processing time, but at least I got peace of mind.
The system is just overwhelmed all the time. 10-21 days is the normal range but some people wait longer if there's any complication at all. Your case sounds straightforward though so you should be approved soon.

Hope this helps! The Washington ESD payment system is actually pretty reliable once you understand how it works. Just remember to file on time and double-check your information.

•Definitely helps! I'll stop worrying so much about the exact timing and just trust the process.

•Yeah the stress is the worst part. Once you get into a routine it's much easier.

One last tip - set up account alerts with your bank so you get notified when deposits hit. Then you don't have to keep checking manually!
