One last tip - if you do end up needing to contact Washington ESD for any reason after filing, I can't recommend Claimyr enough. Before I found them I literally tried calling for 3 weeks straight and never got through. Their system actually works.
Remember you can also appeal any determination if you disagree with Washington ESD's decision. You have 30 days from the date of any notice to file an appeal. Hopefully you won't need that information but it's good to know your rights.
Last thing - when you do your weekly claims, be completely honest about any work you do or money you earn, even if it's just a few hours. Washington ESD will find out eventually and it's better to report it upfront than deal with an overpayment later.
One more thing - if you move to another state while collecting Washington unemployment, you need to notify them. The benefits might continue but there could be complications with job search requirements.
Bottom line - 26 weeks maximum, file every week, do your job search activities, and respond quickly to any requests from Washington ESD. It's not complicated once you get into the routine.
Just remember - if you run into any issues with your claim, don't wait around hoping it fixes itself. Get help early, whether that's calling Washington ESD directly or using something like Claimyr to get through to them. Problems tend to snowball if you ignore them.

One more thing - if Washington ESD does initially deny your claim, don't give up. You have the right to appeal and many people win their appeals even after being denied initially. The appeals process gives you a chance to present your side of the story.

•Good to know there's a backup plan. Hopefully it won't come to that but it's reassuring.

•Appeals are actually pretty common and successful if you have a legitimate case. Don't be discouraged if you get an initial denial.

•Good luck! You've got this. Remember that most termination claims are approved as long as there wasn't clear misconduct.
