Just remember that you have to actively look for work the whole time you're collecting benefits. Washington ESD requires 3 job search activities per week and they do audit people.
Bottom line is 26 weeks max for regular unemployment in Washington. Use the time wisely to find something good rather than just taking the first job offer that comes along.
Whatever you do, don't try to game the system or lie about anything. They cross-reference everything with employer records and the IRS. I know someone who got caught working under the table while collecting benefits and had to pay back everything plus penalties.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I feel much more prepared now to apply for benefits. Sounds like I should expect around $485 per week if everything goes smoothly with my application.
Just remember if you run into any issues getting through to Washington ESD, Claimyr is there as a backup option. Sometimes you really do need to talk to an actual person to get things resolved.
honestly the hardest part isnt figuring out the benefit amount, its actually getting through to someone at ESD when you have problems. I spent literally 40+ hours on the phone over 2 weeks trying to resolve an issue with my claim. Finally got through using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier - totally worth it to avoid the phone hell
Bottom line: with your income level, expect somewhere in the $350-450 range per week. File your claim ASAP, be completely honest and accurate on your application, keep detailed job search records, and be patient with the process. It's frustrating but most people do eventually get their benefits if they qualify.
I tried using that claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier and it actually worked great. Got connected to a Washington ESD agent in like 20 minutes instead of the usual 2+ hour wait times. Pretty convenient.

•Yeah and make sure to check your messages in the system regularly too. Sometimes important notices only show up there.

Overall the Washington ESD payment system works pretty well once you understand it. File weekly, get paid biweekly, and don't skip any steps. If you run into problems, don't hesitate to reach out for help - either through forums like this or services that can help you contact Washington ESD directly.
