Just want to add that if you do end up needing to contact Washington ESD with questions, I had success with that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Got through on my first try and the agent was really helpful explaining my options. Sometimes it's worth paying a little to avoid the phone tag nightmare.
Same here - used Claimyr for a different issue and it was way less stressful than the regular phone system.
Bottom line - you need to pick one path and stick with it until your situation changes. Trying to collect multiple benefits you're not entitled to will only create bigger problems down the road. Get proper advice for your specific situation before making any applications.
Bottom line - focus on your own situation rather than getting caught up in the macro numbers. If you need help with your Washington ESD claim or have questions, that's more important than unemployment statistics.
just wanted to add that seasonal variations matter too. unemployment always goes up in winter in certain industries so timing affects whether a rate looks high or not
The bottom line is that being fired doesn't automatically disqualify you from unemployment benefits in Washington. File your claim and let Washington ESD make the determination. You've got nothing to lose by applying.
I tried calling Washington ESD about this same question last month and got nowhere. Spent 3 hours on hold just to get disconnected. Might have to try that claimyr service people mentioned.
Yeah definitely try it. I was in the same boat with the endless hold times. Claimyr got me through to someone in like 20 minutes.
Just to add - if you do get approved for both programs, you'll probably have to choose one or the other eventually. But in the short term while applications are processing, you might be able to collect UI benefits while waiting for disability decision.

Just want to add that you should expect your first payment to be smaller than your full weekly benefit amount because they usually hold back some for taxes unless you opt out of withholding.

•Good point, I forgot about taxes. Is there a way to change the withholding amount?

•Yeah you can adjust it in your account settings. I'd recommend having them take out at least 10% so you don't get hit with a big tax bill later.

Bottom line - expect 2-4 weeks for your first payment if everything goes smoothly, but it could be longer if they need to investigate anything about your claim. Just keep filing weekly and be patient.

•Good luck! The waiting sucks but the money will come. Just stay on top of your weekly claims and work search requirements.
