Update us after your interview! It helps other people who are going through the same thing to know how it went.
One last thing - if your claim gets approved after the interview, you should receive back pay for all the weeks you were waiting. So don't worry about losing money during this process.
Filed with severance about 6 months ago and used that Claimyr thing to get through to Washington ESD when I had questions. Honestly saved me so much frustration compared to trying to call the regular way. Worth every penny when you're dealing with uncertainty about benefits.
Bottom line: file now, report everything accurately, and let Washington ESD make the determination. Don't try to guess whether you're eligible or not - that's their job to figure out.
Wait, what if your employer asks for proof that you canceled your unemployment claim? Some employers are weird about that stuff.
This thread has been really helpful. I was in the same boat as OP and wasn't sure about the whole tax process for unemployment benefits. Definitely bookmarking this for reference.
For anyone who had Washington ESD benefits and moved to a different state, you'll still get your 1099-G from Washington but you might need to file tax returns in both states depending on the rules. Just something to keep in mind.

The good news is that if you were legitimately laid off through no fault of your own and you meet the wage requirements, you'll probably be fine. Most denials are for people who quit, got fired for misconduct, or don't meet the work search requirements.

•That's reassuring. I'm feeling more confident about applying now that I understand what to watch out for.

•Just be honest on your application, keep good records of your job search, and respond promptly to any requests for information. You should be fine.

One last thing - if you have any doubt about your eligibility or get a denial, consider using that Claimyr service that was mentioned earlier. Sometimes talking to an actual Washington ESD representative can clear up confusion that leads to denials. Better to get clarification upfront than deal with an appeal later.

•Good luck with your claim! Most people who were legitimately laid off don't have any problems as long as they follow the rules.
