just wanted to add that if you do eventually get through, be prepared with all your info ready - claim number, SSN, dates of the issue, etc. The agents can't hold the line forever while you look stuff up
Hope this thread helps others dealing with the same phone nightmare. It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one struggling with this. At least there seem to be some viable solutions whether it's the early morning calling strategy or using a service like Claimyr to get through.
For what it's worth, I had pending issues that took 6 weeks to resolve, but once they were resolved I got all my back pay in one lump sum. So at least you'll get everything you're owed once it's processed, including payment for all the weeks you've been waiting.
I'm at 5 weeks with pending issues and just got another generic letter saying they're 'working on it.' No timeline, no details about what they need from me, nothing helpful. I'm so frustrated I could scream. How is this system even functional?
I work at a tax prep office and we see this all the time. Washington ESD 1099-G forms are usually available online by mid-January, even if the mailed copies are delayed. Always check your online account first before calling.
Last resort option: if you really can't get your 1099-G and need to file ASAP, you can use your Washington ESD payment history to calculate the total yourself. Just make sure you account for any taxes that were withheld.
For anyone still struggling to reach Washington ESD by phone, I had success with Claimyr after months of trying on my own. The service connected me to an agent who walked through my entire benefit calculation and caught an error that increased my weekly amount by $50. Worth every penny for the peace of mind.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this discussion! I learned way more than I expected about how unemployment benefits are calculated in Washington. Time to file my claim with confidence.

The key thing is to be honest and accurate on all your forms. Washington ESD cross-checks everything and if they find discrepancies, it can delay your claim or even result in fraud charges.

•Exactly. It's not worth trying to game the system. Just be truthful about everything.

One more thing - if you quit your job instead of being laid off, you might not be eligible for unemployment unless you quit for 'good cause' like unsafe working conditions or significant changes to your job.

•Good thing I was laid off then. This whole process seems complicated enough already.

•It seems overwhelming at first but once you get into the routine of filing weekly claims, it becomes pretty straightforward. The hardest part is usually the initial setup and waiting for approval.
