Bottom line is 26 weeks maximum for regular UI, but that's only if you qualify for the full amount. Keep filing your weekly claims, do your job search, and don't turn down suitable work. The time goes by quick so use it wisely!
Oh and one more thing - if you do find work before your benefits run out, you might be able to reopen your claim later if you become unemployed again, as long as it's within your benefit year. So the unused weeks don't just disappear immediately.
That's good to know! So if I find a job after 10 weeks on unemployment, I could potentially use the remaining 16 weeks if I get laid off again soon?
Been getting payments for 8 weeks now and it's been Wednesday morning every single time. The only variable is what time Wednesday morning - anywhere from 12:01 AM to around 10 AM depending on my bank's processing.
Summary for anyone else reading this: Washington ESD processes payments Tuesday nights, direct deposits hit Wednesday mornings (timing varies by bank), file your weekly claim between Sunday-Saturday, and if you have problems getting through by phone try Claimyr to reach an actual person. Hope this helps!
File immediately and then start your job search right away too. Washington has work search requirements and they can ask for your job search log at any time. Better to start tracking from day one.
Don't stress too much about getting everything perfect on your initial application. You can always provide additional information later if they need it. The important thing is getting your claim date established.
This thread has been really helpful. I'm in a similar situation and was just as confused about where to start.

One thing nobody mentioned - if you get severance pay that might affect when your benefits start. Washington ESD considers severance as wages so you might have a delay before you can collect unemployment.

•I didn't get any severance, just my final paycheck. So I should be good to start benefits right away?

•Yeah if you didn't get severance you should be able to start collecting immediately as long as you meet all the other requirements.
