Just saw this thread and wanted to add - make sure you understand the difference between being 'able' and 'available' for work. Able means physically/mentally capable of working, available means you're actively seeking and willing to accept suitable employment. Both are required for UI benefits.
Final reminder to keep all your documentation organized - job search records, correspondence with Washington ESD, severance pay stubs, medical records if relevant later. Having everything organized makes dealing with any questions much easier.
Make copies of everything before you submit it! I learned that lesson when some of my documents got lost in the process.
Wow, that's a significant increase! I need to check that out. Is there a website or how does it work?
Yeah claimyr.com - they basically get you connected to actual Washington ESD staff without the endless hold times. Worth it just for peace of mind on the calculation.
The whole unemployment system would be so much easier if they just had better customer service. Half the confusion comes from not being able to get answers to simple questions.
Amen to that. They act like talking to claimants is some kind of burden instead of part of their job.
That's honestly why services like Claimyr exist - because the regular system is so hard to navigate. At least there are options now.
Quick math check for OP - if you were making $62k annually that's about $4,770 per month or $1,192 per week gross. Even at the max benefit of $999 you're looking at about 84% replacement of your gross wages, which is actually pretty good.

If it helps, I got my approval notification on a Wednesday after filing on a Monday two weeks prior. So exactly 2 weeks and 2 days. First payment showed up in my account the following Tuesday. So once it gets approved, the money comes pretty quick.

•That timeline gives me hope! Fingers crossed I hear something this week then.

Don't forget that even after you get approved, you might have a waiting week depending on when you filed and your work history. That's separate from the processing time.

•I thought they eliminated the waiting week in Washington?

•They did eliminate it for most people, but there are still some situations where it applies. Manufacturing layoffs usually don't have waiting weeks though.
