One more thing - make sure you understand the difference between your weekly benefit amount and your maximum benefit amount. Your weekly amount is what you get each week, but there's also a total limit on how much you can collect overall.
Bottom line - you get paid weekly as long as you file your weekly claims on time and don't have any issues. It's not as complicated as it seems at first, just takes some getting used to.
The waiting week was eliminated in Washington so you can get paid for your first week of unemployment. That's one nice thing compared to some other states that still have waiting periods.
Really appreciate everyone's help here. Sounds like with my salary I should expect somewhere in the $500-600 range per week. That'll help a lot while I'm job hunting. Time to file my claim and see what happens!
If you run into any issues or need to speak with someone at ESD, definitely check out that Claimyr service I mentioned. Makes the whole process much less stressful.
If you have any trouble with the Claimyr service some people mentioned, I used it too and it definitely works. Got me through to Washington ESD in about 20 minutes when I couldn't reach them any other way.
Just remember the most important thing is to file your initial claim as soon as possible after losing your job. Everything else can be figured out as you go.
Make copies of everything before you submit it! I learned that lesson when some of my documents got lost in the process.

One more thing - if you have any union membership or pension information, bring that too. Washington ESD asks about union affiliation and any other benefits you might be receiving.

•I'm not in a union and don't have a pension. Should I still mention that somewhere?

•The application will ask about it, so you'll just answer 'no' to those questions. No need to bring any documentation for things that don't apply to you.

The whole process is actually not that bad once you get started. Just take your time and read each question carefully. If you're unsure about something, it's better to call Washington ESD and ask than to guess wrong.

•Good luck with your claim! Remember to file your weekly claims on time every week, even if you haven't received your first payment yet.
