Don't get discouraged if your claim goes into adjudication. Mine took 3 weeks to resolve but everything worked out in the end. Just be patient and keep filing your weekly claims.
Bottom line - file as soon as you can, keep detailed records, actively look for work, and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. The system isn't perfect but it's there to help you get back on your feet.
Final thought - if you run into any snags with your claim status or have questions that the online system can't answer, don't waste your time trying to call Washington ESD directly. I used Claimyr twice and both times got connected to helpful agents who resolved my issues quickly. Sometimes paying a small fee is worth avoiding the headache of their phone system.
I was skeptical about using a service like that but honestly after spending two full days trying to reach ESD myself, I wish I'd found Claimyr sooner.
I'm dealing with a similar situation and finally got through to ESD using Claimyr last week. The agent was able to set up a payment plan that prevents them from taking my refund as long as I stay current. Worth every penny to avoid losing my entire refund.
That gives me hope! I'm definitely going to try Claimyr tomorrow. Did the agent explain why the overpayment happened in the first place?
Just remember that even if they take your refund, you can still appeal the overpayment itself. The offset and the appeal process are separate things. You have rights even after they've collected the money.

Also remember that if you have any issues or questions after you apply, that Claimyr service people mentioned earlier can help you get through to Washington ESD agents when you need to. Their phone lines are impossible otherwise.

•I'll keep that in mind in case I run into problems. Hopefully the application goes smoothly.

•Hopefully! But it's good to know there are options if you need help reaching someone.
