I was surprised when I got unemployment that the maximum was as high as $999. When I was younger I remember it being much lower. Good that it's kept up with cost of living somewhat.
Bottom line - if you made good money consistently in the past year, you'll probably qualify for close to the maximum. But there are so many variables that it's hard to know for sure until you actually file and get your determination.
Also be prepared for some paperwork and possible delays. The system is better than it was during COVID but it's still not perfect. Having patience and keeping good records will serve you well.
Good luck with your application! Unemployment benefits really are a lifesaver when you need them. Just remember to stay on top of your weekly claims and job search requirements and you should be fine.
One last thing - when you file, pay attention to any messages or alerts in your account. Sometimes Washington ESD will ask for additional information and you need to respond quickly or your payments might stop.
Overall the weekly filing process is pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it. Just stick to the Sunday-Tuesday schedule and answer all questions honestly. You'll be fine!

Just wanted to add that if you can't access your online account for some reason, you can also request tax withholding changes over the phone. Sometimes the online system glitches.

•Good to know there's a backup option. Though getting through by phone can be its own challenge!

•That's where services like Claimyr come in handy again. Sometimes the phone is your only option.

Final thought - even if you mess up and don't have enough withheld, you can always make estimated quarterly payments to the IRS to avoid a big bill in April. Just don't ignore it completely.

•Agreed. Set it and forget it is usually the way to go.
