If you do quit, make sure you understand the work search requirements. You'll need to be actively looking for work and document your job search activities.
The bottom line is that quitting for good cause is possible but you need to build a solid case first. Don't quit impulsively - plan it out and document everything.
Just to add - if you're using a payroll service, they should handle FUTA deposits for you. But double-check they're doing it right and on time since you're still liable for penalties if they mess up.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I feel much more confident about staying compliant with FUTA deposits now. Setting up my calendar reminders and EFTPS account this week.
Good luck with your business growth. Sounds like you're taking the right approach by getting this stuff figured out early.
And remember, if you ever need to reach Washington ESD or other agencies about employment taxes, that Claimyr service can save you a lot of time and frustration.
The application process seems really complicated. Do I need to gather a bunch of documents before I start?
Also remember that holidays can affect when benefits are paid. Washington ESD usually posts a schedule of holiday delays on their website. Plan accordingly so you don't panic when your payment is a day late.

For what it's worth, I've found calling Washington ESD first thing Monday morning around 8:05 AM gives you the best chance of getting through. Still takes persistence though.

•Thanks for the tip! I've been trying at random times without much strategy.

•Mondays are definitely better than Fridays. But honestly, services like Claimyr are worth it if you need to get through quickly.

Just want to add that if you worked in multiple states, your claim might take longer to process because they have to coordinate between state agencies. Something to keep in mind.

•I only worked in Washington so hopefully that won't be an issue for me.

•You should be fine then. In-state claims are much more straightforward.
