If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

The job search requirement thing is no joke. They randomly audit people and if you can't prove you were looking for work, they'll make you pay back benefits. Keep detailed records of everything you do.

What counts as a job search activity? Just applying for jobs or other things too?

0 coins

Applying for jobs, networking events, career fairs, updating your resume, even some online career workshops count. Check the Washington ESD website for the full list.

Bottom line - if you filed correctly and your employer doesn't contest it, you'll start getting paid within 2-3 weeks of filing. First payment might take a little longer but after that it's pretty regular. Don't panic if it doesn't happen immediately.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful info. Feeling much better about the whole process now.

Good luck! Feel free to ask if you have more questions as you go through the process.

Bottom line - if you only have self-employment income, you can't get regular unemployment benefits. If you have W2 wages during your base period, you might qualify based on those wages alone. The tricky part is figuring out if you have enough qualifying wages and meeting the availability requirements.

0 coins

Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! Sounds like I need to look up my exact W2 wages from last year and possibly talk to Washington ESD directly to see if I qualify.

0 coins

Good luck! Hope it works out for you. The unemployment system is confusing enough without trying to figure out the self-employment angle.

0 coins

One more thing - even if you qualify, your weekly benefit amount will only be based on your W2 wages, not your total income including self-employment. So the benefit might be lower than you expect.

0 coins

That makes sense. At this point any help would be better than nothing, so I'll take whatever I can get if I qualify.

0 coins

Exactly. Something is better than nothing when work is slow.

Washington ESD should automatically send you information about what happens when your benefits end. If you haven't received anything yet, you might want to call them or use one of those services like Claimyr to make sure there isn't something you need to do on your end.

I'll probably try Claimyr if I don't hear anything in the next week or two. The phone situation with ESD is just impossible otherwise.

0 coins

Update us when you find out what happens! I'm sure there are other people in similar situations who would benefit from knowing how it goes.

0 coins

Will do! Hopefully I'll have some good news to share, but either way I'll let everyone know what I learn.

I had three ineligible weeks in a row last year and it turned out my former employer had contested my claim and ESD was investigating. They never told me about the investigation until I finally got through to someone on the phone. Definitely try to speak with an agent ASAP.

0 coins

Yeah, took about two months but I eventually got all the back pay. The employer's contest was bogus but I had to prove it with documentation.

0 coins

Two months?! That's way too long to go without benefits while they investigate.

0 coins

Update: I ended up using Claimyr after seeing it mentioned here and finally got through to ESD. Turns out my ineligible week was because I reported job search activities that weren't specific enough. The agent helped me understand exactly what they need and fixed the week. Definitely worth it if you're stuck trying to reach them the regular way.

0 coins

What kind of details do they want for job search activities? I might be making the same mistake.

0 coins

They want company names, specific job titles, dates, and method of contact. Generic entries like 'applied online' aren't enough anymore.

If your claim gets denied for any reason, don't give up! You have the right to appeal the decision. The appeal process has strict deadlines though, so make sure you understand your options and act quickly if needed.

0 coins

What are some common reasons claims get denied? Should I be prepared for that possibility?

0 coins

Most common reasons are insufficient work history, quitting without good cause, or being fired for misconduct. Since you were laid off, you should be fine.

0 coins

honestly the hardest part for me was just getting started. Once I submitted the application, everything else kind of fell into place. The weekly claims become routine pretty quickly.

0 coins

You got this! And remember, ESD has customer service if you get stuck, though like others mentioned, actually reaching them can be challenging.

0 coins

That's where services like Claimyr really come in handy. When you do need to talk to ESD, at least you know there's a way to actually get through to them without the usual runaround.
