The whole unemployment system would be so much easier if they just had better customer service. Half the confusion comes from not being able to get answers to simple questions.
Amen to that. They act like talking to claimants is some kind of burden instead of part of their job.
That's honestly why services like Claimyr exist - because the regular system is so hard to navigate. At least there are options now.
Quick math check for OP - if you were making $62k annually that's about $4,770 per month or $1,192 per week gross. Even at the max benefit of $999 you're looking at about 84% replacement of your gross wages, which is actually pretty good.
Last thing - if you're really struggling with Washington ESD employer issues and need to talk to someone, that Claimyr service has been a lifesaver for me multiple times. Check out their demo video to see how it works. Much better than the frustration of trying to get through on your own.
Overall, unemployment affects businesses through direct costs (UI taxes), indirect costs (administrative time), and broader economic effects (consumer spending, worker mobility). It's expensive but serves important economic functions. The key is managing your piece of it as efficiently as possible.
If it helps, I got my approval notification on a Wednesday after filing on a Monday two weeks prior. So exactly 2 weeks and 2 days. First payment showed up in my account the following Tuesday. So once it gets approved, the money comes pretty quick.
Don't forget that even after you get approved, you might have a waiting week depending on when you filed and your work history. That's separate from the processing time.
One last thing - if you're looking at your monetary determination and the quarters seem wrong, double-check the dates. Sometimes people get confused about which year they're looking at, especially if they filed their claim early in the new year.

Make copies of everything before you submit it! I learned that lesson when some of my documents got lost in the process.

•Yeah, always keep a paper trail. You never know when you'll need to reference something later.

Good luck with your appeal! Sounds like you have a solid case if it was just scheduling disagreements. Stay positive and stick to the facts during the hearing.
