TWC wage statement missing my last employer - will this affect my benefits?
I just got my 'Statement of Wages and Potential Benefit Amount' letter from TWC in the mail, and something doesn't look right. The letter shows my previous employer from 2 years ago (AutoZone where I worked part-time) but doesn't show anything about Riverside Manufacturing where I just got laid off after 18 months! Riverside is the company I actually filed my unemployment claim for. My benefit amount seems really low too - only $265/week when I was making almost $4,000/month at Riverside. Will this mess up my claim? Do I need to contact TWC about this missing employer? I'm worried they'll either deny my claim completely or pay me way less than I should get based on my recent wages. Has anyone dealt with this issue before?

This is actually pretty common and YES you need to get this fixed ASAP! The same thing happened to me in January. TWC only had my old job at HEB on file but not my most recent employer (where I worked for over a year). Your benefit amount is calculated based on your highest-paid quarter in the base period, so if they're missing your main employer, you're definitely getting shortchanged. You need to request a wage investigation with TWC. The frustrating part is getting through to someone. I spent 3 days calling non-stop before I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they got me connected to an actual TWC rep within about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh. Worth it because once I got through and explained the missing wages, they adjusted my weekly benefit amount from $243 to $521! Just make sure you have your last employer's info and paystubs ready when you call.

•Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely look into that Claimyr service if I can't get through on my own. Do you know if I should keep requesting payments while this wage investigation is happening? I'm worried about doing something wrong and making things worse.

This is definitely something you need to address. There are several reasons why your most recent employer might not be showing up on your Statement of Wages: 1. Your base period might not include your most recent employment. TWC uses the first 4 of the last 5 completed calendar quarters before you filed your claim as your base period. 2. Your employer may not have properly reported your wages to TWC. 3. There could be a system error in TWC's wage database. You should request a wage investigation immediately. You can do this by calling TWC at 800-939-6631 or by logging into your online account and sending a secure message requesting a wage investigation. Be prepared to provide proof of employment (paystubs, W-2, etc.) for the missing employer. And yes, you should absolutely continue requesting payments while this is being investigated. You don't want to miss out on any weeks of benefits.

•hold up - is this base period thing why my last 3 months of work didnt count?? nobody explained that! i thought they were just ignoring my highest paying job to give me less money on purpose!! so frustrating how they dont explain this stuff clearly

•Yes, that's exactly why those last 3 months might not be counted. The base period intentionally excludes your most recent completed quarter and current quarter when you file. It's designed this way to give TWC time to collect wage information from employers. If those last 3 months were your highest paying, you might qualify for an alternate base period in some cases, but you would need to specifically request that evaluation.

•While it can be frustrating, TWC actually has consistent rules - they just don't communicate them well. The wage issue is usually because employers report quarterly, and sometimes there's a lag or error in reporting. It's fixable if you're persistent!

Update: I called TWC this morning (about 47 times) and finally got through! The rep confirmed that Riverside Manufacturing hadn't reported my wages for the last two quarters - apparently they've been having issues with their payroll system. He started a wage investigation and said I need to fax or upload my last 6 months of paystubs as proof. He also said my benefit amount will be recalculated once the investigation is complete, and I'll get backpay for any weeks I was underpaid. Thanks everyone for the help!

•This happened to me with my last employer too! Document EVERYTHING and keep following up every week. I had to call multiple times because my wage investigation seemed to disappear into a black hole the first time. And make sure the fax went through - their fax system is notoriously unreliable. Uploading through the portal is better if you can do that.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely upload through the portal instead of faxing. The rep mentioned it could take 2-3 weeks for the investigation to complete. Is that what you experienced?

Mine took 4 weeks to resolve completely, but I had a more complicated situation with multiple missing employers. Make sure you continue requesting payment every two weeks while this is happening - that was something I didn't understand at first and almost missed out on benefits. When they finally fixed my wage record, my benefit amount almost doubled and they sent the extra money for previous weeks all at once.

Glad you got through! If anyone else is dealing with the same issue and struggling to reach TWC, I seriously recommend trying Claimyr. It saved me days of frustration. I know how stressful it is waiting for benefits when bills are piling up.

•I tried calling on my own for 2 weeks before using that service. Wish I'd just done it from the start, would have saved so much stress

One important thing to note: while your wage investigation is processing, you might get a lower benefit amount initially based on the wages they currently have on file. Don't panic - once the investigation confirms your correct wages, they'll adjust your benefit amount AND pay you the difference for any weeks you received the lower amount. Just be prepared that your initial payments might be at that lower $265 rate until everything is fixed in the system.

•That's really good to know - thank you! I was wondering about that. The bills are already tight so I'll need to budget carefully until this gets fixed.

I went through something similar last year and it's definitely worth getting fixed! Just wanted to add that when you upload your paystubs through the portal, make sure they're clear and readable - I had to resubmit mine twice because the first ones were too blurry. Also, if your employer used a third-party payroll company (like ADP or Paychex), sometimes that can cause delays in wage reporting to TWC. You might want to mention that to the rep if it applies to your situation. The good news is once they get it sorted out, the backpay usually comes pretty quickly. Hang in there!

•Thanks for the tip about making sure the paystubs are clear! I just uploaded mine and they look good. My employer did use ADP actually, so that might explain why the wage reporting got messed up. I'll definitely mention that if I need to call back. Really appreciate everyone's help on this - makes me feel a lot less stressed knowing other people have dealt with this successfully!

Just wanted to jump in as someone who's been through this exact situation! I had the same issue where my most recent employer (a construction company where I worked for 14 months) wasn't showing up on my wage statement at all. It's definitely frustrating but totally fixable. A few things that helped me get through the process faster: 1) Keep calling early in the morning (around 7:30-8am) - seems like wait times are shorter then, 2) Have ALL your documentation ready before you call - not just paystubs but also your hire date, termination date, and employer contact info, and 3) Ask the rep for a reference number for your wage investigation so you can follow up if needed. The whole process took about 3 weeks for me, but once it was resolved my weekly benefit amount went from $298 to $487! And like others mentioned, they did pay me the difference for all the weeks I had already claimed. Definitely worth the hassle to get it sorted out properly. Keep us posted on how it goes!

•Thanks for the detailed tips! The early morning calling strategy is genius - I wish I had thought of that when I was dealing with my wage issue. I was calling at random times throughout the day and getting nowhere. The reference number tip is really smart too. I forgot to ask for one during my investigation and had to start over when I called back to check status. Your benefit increase from $298 to $487 really shows how much of a difference getting the right wages on file can make!

I'm dealing with a similar situation right now! My wage statement is missing my last employer where I worked for 8 months as a warehouse supervisor. It's showing an old retail job from 2+ years ago instead. My calculated benefit amount is way too low - only $189/week when I was making decent money at the warehouse job. I've been trying to call TWC for the past week but can barely get through. When I do get in the queue, I get disconnected after waiting an hour+. It's so frustrating because I know my benefit amount should be much higher with the correct wages. For those who successfully got their wage investigations completed - did you have to provide anything besides paystubs? I have all my paystubs saved but wondering if I need other documentation like my final pay statement or employment verification letter. Also, did anyone have issues with TWC not accepting digital copies of paystubs, or is uploading through the portal usually fine? Really hoping to get this resolved soon because the current benefit amount isn't even covering half my monthly expenses. Thanks for sharing your experiences - it helps to know I'm not the only one dealing with this!

•I'm in almost the exact same boat as you! My wage statement is missing my most recent employer too and showing an old part-time job instead. The calling situation is absolutely brutal - I've probably spent 20+ hours on hold this past week alone. From what I've seen in this thread and my own research, paystubs should be sufficient for the wage investigation, but having your final pay statement definitely can't hurt if you have it. The digital uploads through the portal seem to work fine based on what others have said - just make sure they're clear and readable. One thing that might help with the calling issue - someone mentioned Claimyr earlier in this thread and I'm seriously considering trying it at this point. Spending days calling just to get disconnected is driving me crazy, especially when every week that passes is money I'm losing out on. Hang in there - sounds like everyone who's gotten through this process eventually got it resolved and received proper backpay. We just have to be persistent! Let me know if you end up getting through and what works for you.

•I just went through this exact same process a few weeks ago! For documentation, paystubs were definitely the main thing they needed, but I also provided my W-2 from last year and a letter from HR confirming my employment dates and final wages. The digital uploads through the portal worked perfectly fine for me - just make sure each file is under 10MB and in PDF or image format. One thing that really helped me get through on the phone was calling right at 8:00 AM on weekdays. I got through on my third try doing this, whereas I had spent literally days calling at random times with no luck. The rep told me that early morning and late afternoon (after 4 PM) tend to have shorter wait times. Your benefit calculation sounds way off if you were making decent supervisor wages - definitely worth fighting for! In my case, my weekly benefit went from $201 to $456 once they added my missing employer wages. The whole investigation took about 2.5 weeks, and I got a lump sum payment for all the weeks I was underpaid. Keep pushing through the phone calls - it's so worth it in the end!

I'm going through this exact same issue right now! My wage statement is completely missing my most recent employer where I worked for over a year, and instead it's showing some random part-time job from way back. My calculated weekly benefit is only $203 when I know it should be much higher based on my actual recent wages. I've been trying to call TWC for days but like everyone else, I keep getting stuck in endless hold queues or getting disconnected. It's incredibly frustrating when you know you're entitled to more benefits but can't get through to anyone to fix it. Reading through all these comments is actually really reassuring though - sounds like this is more common than I thought and everyone who's persistent eventually gets it resolved. I'm definitely going to try that early morning calling strategy that several people mentioned. And I'll make sure to have all my paystubs and employment documentation ready to upload through the portal. One question for those who've been through this - did your benefit payments continue at the lower (incorrect) rate while the wage investigation was processing? I'm worried about missing payments entirely if I mess something up in this process. Thanks for sharing all your experiences - it really helps to know there's light at the end of the tunnel!
