Will PA UC payment go to my new direct deposit or come as a check after updating bank info?

I updated my bank account information for direct deposit last Friday (just 3 days ago) and completed my weekly PA UC certification yesterday. Now I'm stressing about where my payment will actually end up. Will the system have processed my new direct deposit info in time, or am I going to get a paper check this week? Anyone dealt with this timing issue before? Really need this payment to hit my account ASAP for rent next week...

If your direct deposit change was processed before Sunday's weekly certification, the payment should go to your new account. You can verify if your change was processed by checking your dashboard under 'Payment Information'. Look for a green confirmation message. If you don't see confirmation, you'll likely get a paper check this week, which unfortunately can take 7-10 business days to arrive.

Thanks for the info! I just checked and I DO see the green confirmation message with my new bank showing. So hopefully that means it'll go to the right account. Fingers crossed because I really need it for rent!

That's really reassuring to hear! How long did it take for the money to actually hit your account after filing?

When I changed my direct deposit info in January, it didn't process in time and I got a paper check. Then the NEXT week it went to my new account. The check took FOREVER to come - almost 2 weeks!!! So frustrating when you're counting on that money. The system is SO SLOW to update sometimes.

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm worried about. Did you change your info close to when you filed like I did? I'm really hoping I don't have to wait for a check.

In my experience helping clients with UC issues, the cutoff is typically Thursday for direct deposit changes to be effective for Sunday filings. Since you updated on Friday, there's approximately a 60% chance you'll receive a paper check this time. If you need to confirm this quickly, you should contact the UC service center directly. However, as many know, getting through to them can be challenging with constant busy signals.

I've been trying to get through to the UC center for 3 days with no luck! Always busy or it hangs up on me. So frustrating!!!

I had this exact problem last month! After trying the regular number 30+ times with no luck, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to UC in about 20 minutes. They have this system that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is ready. Saved me hours of frustration and endless busy signals. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. The agent confirmed my direct deposit change went through and my payment would be processed correctly.

@profile8 Yes, it actually does work! I was skeptical too but it saved me from literally days of calling. The agent I talked to confirmed my payment would go to my new account and it did. Worth it if you're desperate to get through.

Thanks for the suggestion. If my payment doesn't hit my new account tomorrow, I'll definitely consider this. I just really need to know where my money is going to end up!

One trick I learned - if you don't get your direct deposit, keep checking your dashboard for payment history! When mine switched to a check, the payment status changed to 'check issued' instead of 'direct deposit' with a date. At least then you KNOW for sure and can plan around it.

That's a great tip, thank you! I'll keep a close eye on my dashboard to track what's happening with the payment.

UPDATE: Great news! The payment just hit my new account this morning. So changing direct deposit on Friday DID work in time for my Sunday filing. Just wanted to update in case anyone else has this question in the future. Thanks everyone for your help!
