PA UC direct deposit delay after switching to F&M bank - normal to receive on Wednesday?
I'm a bit concerned about my PA unemployment payment this week. I've been getting my UC benefits through direct deposit every Tuesday like clockwork for the past 6 weeks. Last week I switched my direct deposit info to my new F&M bank account (closed my old account due to some identity theft concerns). Filed my weekly claim on Sunday as usual, but no payment today (Tuesday). Does the system typically delay payments when you change bank accounts? Has anyone ever received their PA UC direct deposit on Wednesday instead? Not panicking yet, but bills are due soon and I'm getting a bit anxious. Anyone with F&M specifically have experience with this?

Yes! This exact thing happened to me when I switched from PNC to Citizens Bank last month. The first payment after switching took an extra day. Something about them verifying the new account info. It was nerve-wracking but showed up Wednesday morning. If it doesn't come tomorrow, then maybe call them.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That makes me feel better. Did you have to do anything special or did it just show up automatically on Wednesday?

Yep this is true. They do it to make sure they're not sending $$ to fraudsters. My cousin works in banking and says it's standard practice for govt payments.

F&M SPECIFICALLY is known for holding deposits an extra day!!! My brother uses them and his paycheck ALWAYS takes longer than mine even though we work at the same place!!! It's ridiculous how they hold onto YOUR money!!! They claim it's \

Really? That's frustrating to hear. I just switched TO F&M because they have a branch right by my house. If this becomes a regular thing I might have to reconsider though.

When you change your direct deposit information with PA Unemployment, there is typically a verification period that can delay your payment by 1-2 business days. This is a security measure to prevent fraud. The UC system needs to verify the new account belongs to you before sending funds. \n\nIf you don't receive your payment by Thursday morning, I would recommend trying to contact the UC service center. However, as many of us know, reaching a live person can be extremely difficult. I struggled for days trying to get through when I had a similar issue last year.

I had the same problem trying to reach someone about an open issue. After struggling for days with busy signals, I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to a UC agent within about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2\n\nI was skeptical at first but it actually worked when I needed to resolve a payment issue. Might be worth looking into if you can't get through by Thursday.

This is completely normal with the PA UC system. When you change direct deposit information, the system automatically applies a security hold that typically results in a 24-48 hour delay for the first payment to the new account. This is part of their fraud prevention measures, especially important since there was a significant increase in direct deposit fraud attempts in recent years.\n\nI'd advise the following:\n1. Check your dashboard on the PA UC portal to confirm the payment has been processed (it will show as \

Just wanted to update everyone - my payment hit my F&M account this morning (Wednesday) at around 9:30am. Looks like you were all right about the first payment taking an extra day after changing bank info. Thanks for helping me avoid a panic attack yesterday!

Great news! Glad it worked out. In my experience, once that first payment goes through to the new bank, future payments should arrive on your normal day (Tuesday).
