PA UC direct deposit delays with Mid Penn Bank - payment missing after changing from compromised account
I switched my PA unemployment direct deposit to Mid Penn Bank last week after someone hacked into my previous bank account. The UC rep said the change would be processed right away, but I still haven't received this week's payment. My portal shows 'payment issued' status from 2 days ago, but nothing's hit my account. Does anyone else use Mid Penn for their UC benefits? How long does it typically take for payments to show up? I'm getting worried since rent is due next week and I'm already behind from having to deal with the fraud on my other account.

They take longer than most banks. When I had MidPenn it would show up 2-3 business days AFTER the payment date on the portal. So if your portal says payment was issued Tuesday, you might not see it till Friday or even Monday. It's really annoying but thats just how they process ACH transfers.

•Thanks for letting me know! That's definitely longer than my old bank. Do you remember if the first payment after switching took even longer? I'm just nervous because this is a new setup.

I've used Mid Penn for 3 years now with my UC benefits. First deposits after changing accounts DO take longer - usually 4-5 business days because PA UC has to verify the new account information. After that first payment clears, future payments should come within 1-2 business days of showing 'payment issued' on your portal. If you're worried, you can check your payment status on the PA Treasury website too (not just the UC portal). That sometimes updates sooner.

Here's the Treasury payment lookup link: https://patreasury.gov/ucpayments/ - You'll need your SS# and the PIN you use for UC. It shows exactly where in the payment process your money is.

•This is super helpful! I just checked and it says "ACH Processing" so at least I know it's not lost. Hopefully it hits my account by Monday then.

I had the same issue when I changed from PNC to Mid Penn last year. First payment took 6 business days to arrive, but now they come every Wednesday like clockwork. One thing to double-check - make sure you entered your account AND routing number correctly in the system. If there's even one digit wrong, it'll cause delay or rejection. You can verify this by calling UC directly to confirm what they have on file.

•That's a good point. I should probably verify the numbers. But getting through to UC on the phone is impossible these days! Been trying for 3 days with no luck.

If you need to speak with someone at PA UC quickly, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the same situation trying to verify my bank info after I changed accounts and couldn't get through for a week. Claimyr got me connected to a UC rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. It was worth it to get my payment issue resolved instead of waiting and stressing.

•How does that even work? The UC lines are always busy no matter what time I call.

It basically keeps auto-dialing for you and then notifies you once it gets through. Saved me hours of redial frustration. The UC rep I spoke with confirmed my bank info was entered correctly but explained there's always a verification period with new bank accounts for security reasons.

•That sounds way better than what I've been doing. I'll check it out if my payment doesn't show up by Monday. Thanks!

THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS A JOKE!!! I switched to Mid Penn too and my payment was LOST for THREE WEEKS!!! They kept saying "it's processing" but nobody could tell me WHERE my money was!! Finally got through after sending 6 messages and they had to CANCEL the original payment and reissue it!!! Don't trust what they tell you about "normal delays" - if it's been more than 5 business days KEEP CALLING until they fix it!!!

•Wow that's scary. What happened in your case? Was there an actual problem they found?

They blamed it on a "system glitch" with no real explanation. Supposedly the payment got stuck between Treasury and the ACH system. The UC rep admitted they've been having problems with certain banks including Mid Penn. Now i get my payments paper checks even tho it takes longer cuz at least i know where my money is!!!

•Oh no, that's making me nervous now. Maybe I should call tomorrow instead of waiting until Monday. I really can't afford any more delays with rent coming up.

•Thanks for the reassurance! Today's Thursday and nothing yet, but maybe tomorrow. I'll try to be patient.

One more thing - if you just changed your direct deposit last week, there's a chance this payment might still go to your old account or be issued as a paper check. When my wife updated her bank info, PA UC told her the change would take effect for the NEXT payment cycle, not the current one. Worth checking your old account just in case.

•UPDATE: You were right! I just checked my old account and the payment is there! I thought it would go to my new account since the rep said the change would process immediately. Guess I'll need to transfer it out. Thanks everyone for your help! At least I know future payments should go to Mid Penn now.
