Still waiting for PA UC to correct my 2020 claim issue in 2025 - am I alone?
I feel like I'm in some kind of unemployment twilight zone. Back in 2020 during the pandemic mess, my claim had an 'open issue' for 6 weeks before getting fixed. But there was an underpayment that was supposed to be corrected - they literally told me a check would be mailed 'within 2-3 weeks' for the $2,950 they miscalculated. Five years later, I'm STILL waiting! I've called dozens of times (impossible to get through), sent messages through the portal, even mailed a letter with documentation. The few times I've managed to speak with someone, they just say it's 'pending review' or 'needs supervisor approval.' Has anyone else been waiting YEARS for PA to fix an old claim? Does the system ever actually resolve these ancient issues? I'm about to give up on ever seeing that money...

OMG YES!!!! I thought I was the only one! Mine is from August 2020, they owe me like $1,850 from when they miscoded my separation reason and paid me at the wrong rate for 3 weeks. Every few months I try calling again but either cant get through or get someone who has no clue. So frustrating!!!

•Wow, at least I'm not alone in this nightmare! Have you found ANY way to make progress? I've tried everything short of showing up at their office (which I've considered but they don't even allow in-person visits anymore from what I understand).

These older claims are still eligible for correction, though the system does prioritize current claims. The trick is getting someone with authorization to pull the archived case. You need to specifically request an "Historical Claim Review" when contacting them, which flags it differently than regular inquiries. Also, pre-COVID claims are stored in a different database system that fewer agents have access to review.

•my cousin works at the unemployment office (not in PA but in nebraska) and she says they have TONS of old cases from 2020 that are still pending review because they switched systems during the pandemic and a bunch of stuff got messed up in the transition

I finally got my 2021 correction processed last month after trying for years. What worked for me was filing an official appeal (even though it seemed too late) using Form UC-46A and specifically citing "failure to process authorized adjustment" as the reason. Took about 45 days but I finally got a determination letter and the payment appeared on my Money Network card a week later. Make sure to attach all previous correspondence and proof they acknowledged the underpayment. The key is getting it into the formal appeals track rather than the regular customer service queue.

•Thank you SO MUCH for this specific advice! I didn't even know about Form UC-46A or that I could still file an appeal this far out. I'm going to try this approach immediately. Did you submit the form online or mail it in?

•I mailed mine certified with return receipt so I had proof they received it. The online system kept giving me errors saying I couldn't appeal a claim from that benefit year. The paper form lets you explain the situation in the "other" box where I explained it wasn't a typical appeal but a correction that was approved but never processed. Good luck!

I was in the same boat with a 2020 claim that had been in limbo for YEARS. Calling was useless - busy signals or getting disconnected after waiting for hours. I finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it's this service that gets you connected to an actual PA UC agent without the endless busy signals. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The agent I spoke with was actually super helpful once I finally got through. She found my original claim notes from 2020 that confirmed I was owed the money and created an escalation ticket. Got my payment 3 weeks later after waiting for literally years. Absolutely worth it to finally get this resolved.

•is that service legit? seems kinda sketchy to use a third party just to talk to unemployment

Anyone dealing with ancient claims should know that PA has a statute of limitations on these corrections! For regular UC benefits, you typically only have 1 year to appeal or request corrections, BUT there's an exception for administrative errors where they acknowledged the mistake but failed to issue payment. In those cases, you can still get it resolved if you can prove they admitted to owing you. Check the Benefit Rights Information handbook (the 2020 version would apply to your claim) and cite the exact regulation when you contact them - makes them take you more seriously when they realize you know the rules.

•This is incredibly helpful information! I do have emails from them acknowledging the underpayment and promising to issue a correction. I'll look up the 2020 handbook and find the specific regulation. Between this and the Form UC-46A suggestion above, I finally feel like I have a real strategy to move forward. Thank you!

•Voicemails are useless with PA UC! They have thousands and dont check them. You HAVE to get through to a live person or use the message center in your dashboard (but even that rarely gets responses for old claims

PA Unemployment is THE WORST government agency I have EVER dealt with in my life!!!! They still owe me $4800 from 2020 and I've given up completely. Been trying for literally 5 YEARS with no resolution. The whole system is DESIGNED to make people give up on getting money they're legally entitled to. Save yourself the stress and mental health damage and just write it off as a loss. Not worth the endless hours of frustration for money you'll probably never see.

•I understand the frustration, but I'd encourage you not to give up. The process I mentioned above with Form UC-46A worked for me after 4 years of trying. The key is getting out of the regular customer service loop and into the formal appeals process where they're legally required to review and respond.

Based on what I'm seeing in this thread, the OP should take these specific steps: 1. Complete Form UC-46A (Appeal) citing "administrative error - failure to process acknowledged adjustment" 2. Include copies of all documentation showing PA UC acknowledged the underpayment 3. Reference the specific regulation in the 2020 BRI handbook about correction timeframes 4. Submit via certified mail with return receipt 5. If no response in 30 days, contact your state representative's office - they have liaisons at UC who can escalate The backlog from 2020 is still being worked through, but claims with proper documentation are being resolved.

•Thank you for these clear steps! I'm going to follow this exact process. One question - should I also continue trying to call them while the appeal is processing, or just wait for a response to the form?

•Once you've submitted the UC-46A, the claim enters a different processing queue. Calling regular customer service likely won't help at that point as they won't have visibility into the appeals process. However, after 2-3 weeks, you can call the UC Appeals office directly at their separate number (check the PA UC website for the current appeals phone line) to confirm receipt and check status.
