PA UC direct deposit timing with Huntington Bank - anyone have experience?
Hey everyone! Just switched my PA unemployment direct deposit over to Huntington Bank after closing my PNC account. A bit nervous about timing since rent is due soon. Does anyone else here have Huntington for their UC payments? How long after the payment release date do funds typically hit your account? With PNC it was usually 1-2 business days, but I've heard some banks can take longer. Just trying to plan my budget and avoid any late fees. Thanks so much!

•Thanks! Good to know some banks process it same-day. Fingers crossed Huntington is similar!

I've had Huntington for my PA UC payments for about 8 months now. In my experience, the funds usually appear 1 business day after the payment release date. Occasionally it's been same-day if the payment is released early in the morning, but I would plan for the next business day to be safe. Their mobile app notifications are pretty reliable when deposits hit.

•This is exactly what I needed to know!! Super helpful, thank you. I'll plan for next business day then. Do you know if holidays affect the timing?

•Yes, holidays definitely affect it. For Memorial Day weekend this year, my payment that would have normally deposited on Monday didn't show up until Tuesday. The UC office processes payments on schedule, but the banks don't process them on federal holidays.

My cousin uses Huntington and she's ALWAYS complaining that her UC payments are delayed!! Sometimes takes 3-4 days after payment date!!! The system is SO BROKEN!!! I use a credit union and get mine same day every time. Never trust these big banks with unemployment money!!!

•That's unusual for Huntington. I wonder if your cousin's delays are related to when she files her weekly claim. If you file late in the week, the payment processing can roll into the next week. The actual bank transfer is pretty standardized these days with ACH processing.

I switched to huntington last year and its pretty consistant with 1 day after payment date. not as fast as some but never had problems with them specifically. the real problem is when UC has those random delays that nobody warns you about lol

•Oh good to hear another Huntington confirmation! And you're so right about those random UC delays - had one last month and was totally confused until I called.

•PA UC actually provides a payment date on your dashboard once your weekly claim is processed. That's the date they send the payment to your bank, but then it's up to your bank's processing time. Most banks take 0-2 business days to post the deposit after receiving it from UC.

I had such a nightmare trying to get through to PA Unemployment last month when my direct deposit info needed to be verified. Busy signals for DAYS and when I finally got through, they hung up on me! I finally used a service called Claimyr that got me through to a rep in about 25 minutes. Saved me so much frustration! They have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 and their website is claimyr.com. Just sharing since changing direct deposit info sometimes triggers verification issues.

•Thanks for the tip! So far my direct deposit change seems to have gone through without issues, but I'll keep this in mind if I run into problems. Getting through on the phone is impossible sometimes.

•does that service really work? seems sketchy to pay just to talk to unemployment

Just a practical tip: When changing direct deposit information for PA UC benefits, there's occasionally a one-week verification period where they'll hold the payment to ensure the new account information is correct. This doesn't happen to everyone, but it's something to be aware of. If your next payment seems delayed, this could be why. You can check your payment status in your dashboard to see if it shows "pending" longer than usual. This is a security measure to prevent fraud.

•Oh wow, I had no idea about this! Just checked my dashboard and thankfully my payment is showing as processed normally. Good information to have though - thanks for sharing this!

I've been using Huntington for my PA UC payments for about 6 months now. In my experience, it's been pretty reliable - usually 1 business day after the payment release date, sometimes same day if it's released early morning. One thing I noticed is that Huntington's mobile app sends you a push notification as soon as the deposit hits, which is really helpful for budgeting. The only time I had a delay was during a federal holiday weekend when it took an extra day. Overall, I'd say plan for 1 business day after release to be safe, but you'll likely see it faster than that most of the time.

•This is so reassuring! Thanks for the detailed breakdown. The mobile app notification feature sounds really useful - I'll make sure to enable those. Good to know about the holiday delays too, I'll keep that in mind for future planning.

I've been with Huntington for my PA UC payments for about a year now and wanted to share my experience! Generally it's 1 business day after the payment release date, but I've noticed it can vary slightly depending on what time UC releases the payment. If they release it before noon, I sometimes get it same day. If it's released later in the afternoon, it's usually the next business day. One helpful tip - set up account alerts in the Huntington app so you get notified immediately when the deposit hits. Also keep in mind that if there's a federal holiday, it can delay by an additional day. Overall though, Huntington has been pretty consistent for me compared to some horror stories I've heard about other banks!

•This is really helpful info! I just made the switch from PNC so I'm still learning Huntington's timing. The tip about setting up account alerts is great - I'll definitely do that. It sounds like most people are having pretty consistent experiences with the 1 business day timeline, which is reassuring. Thanks for sharing your experience!
