PA UC claim stuck for 8 weeks with no response - need state rep contact info
My UC claim has been in limbo for 8 entire weeks now and I'm completely at my wit's end! I filed back in late February and haven't gotten ANY kind of update - no approval, no denial, nothing. The online portal just shows "pending" with no explanation. I've tried calling the UC service center literally dozens of times but it's ALWAYS busy or I get disconnected after waiting for 45+ minutes. I've heard that contacting your state representative can sometimes help push claims through when they're stuck. Does anyone know how to find out who my PA state rep is or how to contact them about UC issues? I'm in the Montgomery County area if that helps. I'm almost out of savings and getting desperate here!

You can find your state rep by going to legis.state.pa.us and entering your address in the "Find My Legislator" tool. I was stuck in the same boat last year with my claim for almost 10 weeks! Called my rep (I'm in Delaware County) and their constituent services person had my claim fixed in like 4 days. They have special contacts at UC that regular people don't have access to. Definitely worth trying!

•Thank you!!! I'll check out that website right now. Did you have to provide any specific info to your rep when you called? I want to make sure I have everything ready.

i had same issue and found claimyr.com and it actually worked to get through to an agent!! u pay them and then they connect you directly to PA UC without the wait. they called me back with a connection to a real person in like 20 mins! check out their demo video here https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 it was sooo worth it for me cause my claim had been stuck for 6 weeks and they fixed it right away once i finally talked to someone

•Is that even legal? Sounds kinda sketchy to me, having to PAY to get ahold of a government agency we already pay taxes for...

•I've heard mixed things about Claimyr. Some people say it works great, others say it's a waste of money. I think it depends on your specific situation and how desperate you are to get through quickly vs waiting for the state rep route.

When you finally do get through, make sure to ask them specifically about any "open issues" on your claim. Thats what happened to me - had some stupid flag on my account for 9 weeks and noone bothered to tell me or ask for additional info!!!! The system is designed to make u give up I SWEAR

•That's what I'm worried about! That there's some random issue they need info for but never told me. It's ridiculous that there's no way to see what's going on with your own claim.

I work in an employment law office and we're seeing massive backlogs right now with PA UC claims. The system is overwhelmed following their recent software update. While contacting your state representative is a good option, here are a few additional steps you should take: 1. Send a message through your UC dashboard requesting status update (document the date) 2. Check if you have any unresolved issues by clicking on "View Claim Issues" on your dashboard 3. Verify all your job search activities are properly recorded 4. Make sure your contact information is current 5. Check if you received any correspondence in your UC portal inbox If you go the state rep route, bring your claim number, the date you filed, and documentation of your attempts to contact UC. This will help them advocate on your behalf more effectively.

•Thank you so much for this detailed response! I didn't even know there was a "View Claim Issues" section. I just checked and there's actually something there about "employment separation" that I never saw before. Maybe that's the holdup! I'll try sending a message through the dashboard right now.

I finally got my issue fixed after 12 WEEKS by writing a paper letter and sending it certified mail to the UC office in Harrisburg. Something about a paper trail makes them actually do their job. My state rep office was useless BTW, they just told me to "keep trying to call" 🙄

•12 weeks is insane! I've been looking at the claim issues section that someone else mentioned, and I think there might be a problem with my employment separation questionnaire. Going to try to resubmit that and see if it helps. The whole system is so frustrating!

Any update? Were you able to find your state rep? Just wondering if you've made any progress with your claim.

•I found my state rep and sent them an email yesterday! Also discovered I had a claim issue about my "reason for separation" that I didn't know about. I uploaded some additional documentation about my layoff through the portal. Haven't heard anything back yet, but at least I feel like I'm doing something productive now instead of just waiting. Will update if anything changes!

The 8-week delay you're experiencing is unfortunately common right now, but it's still well beyond the normal processing time. Per PA UC regulations, most claims should be processed within 21 days. Make sure you're continuing to file your weekly certifications even though you haven't been approved yet. Once approved, you'll receive backpay for all eligible weeks you properly certified for. When contacting your state representative, specifically request them to submit an "UCSC-1 Request for Intervention" form on your behalf. This form goes directly to a special unit that handles legislative inquiries. Also, make sure you're using the correct phone number for UC: 1-888-313-7284. It's best to call early Monday morning (7:59am) right when they open or late Thursday afternoon when call volume decreases slightly.

•Thank you! I didn't know about that special form. I'll definitely mention that when I follow up with my state rep. And yes, I've been filing my weekly certifications religiously even though I haven't gotten any money. I've been calling that exact number but I'll try the early Monday morning trick next week.

anyone else notice how this ALWAYS happens right when your bills are due?? like they KNOW when you need the money the most and thats when they make it impossible to get through. the system is DESIGNED to make people give up on benefits they deserve!!!!

•Honestly feels that way sometimes. I ended up having to take out a payday loan while waiting for my claim to process and then got stuck in a debt cycle. The whole system is broken.

@OP just wondering if you ever got through to someone? My claim just got stuck too and wondering if state rep or claimyr worked better for you?

•UPDATE: My claim was finally approved yesterday! It was the state rep that did it. Their office contacted UC last Thursday, and by Monday I got a call from a UC examiner who needed one additional piece of information about my separation. I provided it on the spot, and my claim was approved the next day. 9 weeks total but at least it's resolved now. Hang in there!
