PA UC appeal in limbo for 3 weeks - Berks County hearing delays?

Just hit the 3-week mark waiting for my appeal hearing date after getting denied benefits last month. Nothing but silence from Berks County UC office. My portal just says 'appeal pending' with zero updates. Called the service center 17 times today - busy signal every single time. Is Berks County particularly backed up right now? Anyone know what the current wait times are looking like? This is getting ridiculous... rent is due next week and I have ZERO income coming in because of this nonsense. The incompetence is astounding.

6 WEEKS?! You've got to be kidding me. Did they at least backpay everything once it was resolved?

The current backlog for appeal hearings in Berks County is approximately 4-7 weeks according to what I've heard from others in the same situation. Appeals are handled by the Unemployment Compensation Board of Review, not your local office. Unfortunately, most PA counties are experiencing significant delays right now. Make sure you've done these things while waiting: 1. Continue filing your weekly claims even though you're not receiving payments 2. Check your dashboard daily for any correspondence requiring a response 3. Make sure you're meeting your work search requirements and documenting them When you do get your hearing notice, you'll typically have 7-10 days advance notice. The hearing will likely be by phone unless you specifically requested in-person.

Thanks for the detailed info. I've been filing weekly claims religiously and documenting all my job searches, but it's so frustrating to be left in the dark. Do you know if there's any way to check specifically where my appeal is in the queue?

Did your appeal go through successfully? I'm in the same situation but worried I'll go through this long wait just to get denied again.

Have you tried contacting your state representative's office? That's what finally worked for me after waiting 8 WEEKS for my appeal hearing in Chester County. Their constituent services can sometimes light a fire under these departments. I was literally about to be evicted when they finally helped me get through.

This!!!! 👆 My sister works for a state rep and they help people with UC issues ALL THE TIME. Its literally part of their job description to help constituents navigate state agencies.

When I was waiting for my appeal hearing (Bucks County, but probably similar), I was able to get through to a UC rep using Claimyr. It's a service that basically connects you directly to a PA UC agent without the busy signals and waiting. Cost me like a coffee but saved me days of stress. Saw it on a video here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The rep couldn't speed up my hearing date, but at least I got confirmation that my appeal was properly filed and in the queue, which gave me peace of mind. They also told me what documentation to prepare for the hearing. Worth looking into at claimyr.com if you're desperate to speak to someone.

I've heard about this service but wondered if it actually works. Did they give you any estimate on when your hearing would be scheduled? I'm in my 4th week of waiting and getting desperate.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now - filed my appeal 4 weeks ago and still waiting for a hearing date. The anxiety is killing me because I have no idea when this will be resolved. I've been documenting everything and continuing to file weekly claims like others suggested, but the uncertainty is the worst part. Has anyone had success getting updates by calling the Board of Review directly instead of the regular UC service line? I'm wondering if there's a different number that might be less busy.
