UPDATE: My first check came today, took 8 days from when it was issued. For anyone dealing with this in the future - they do show the payment date online, but not the actual mail date. Signing up for USPS Informed Delivery like someone suggested was super helpful! Now I just need to figure out how to get back to direct deposit eventually.
Glad you got your check! To switch back to direct deposit, you need to wait until the fraud hold expires (typically 6 weeks), then call and specifically request to be switched back. Make sure you have your banking information ready when you call. It took me about 3 calls to finally get someone who could help with this.
So glad to see your update that the check arrived! 8 days isn't too bad considering some of the horror stories people share. I'm dealing with the same situation right now - got switched to paper checks last week due to a "security review" on my account. Been checking my mailbox obsessively every day lol. Did you have to do anything special when you deposited the check, or was it just like depositing any other check? Some people told me UC checks can be tricky at certain banks.
After reading through all the comments, I wanted to mention that when my hearing was finally scheduled, it was by telephone due to the backlog. Make sure your phone number is correct in the system, and be prepared to answer when they call - even if it shows as an unknown or blocked number. They're very strict about being available at the scheduled time, and if you miss the call, it can further delay your case.
I'm in the exact same boat - filed my appeal in December after being wrongfully denied (employer falsely claimed misconduct) and it's been radio silence since then. The stress is unreal, especially with rent and utilities piling up. One thing I learned from calling around is that you can also try reaching out to your local legal aid society - some offer free help with UC appeals and can sometimes get better responses from the system than we can as individuals. Also, if you have any coworkers who witnessed your layoff or have knowledge of the circumstances, start getting their contact info now in case you need them as witnesses for your hearing. Hang in there - from what everyone's saying it sounds like 4+ months is unfortunately the new normal, but at least there's light at the end of the tunnel!
Off topic but anybody know if Pennsylvania is keeping the work search requirements at 2 activities per week? I heard a rumor they might increase it to 3 but couldn't find anything on the UC website about changes for 2025.
I've been on PA UC for about 6 months now and can confirm - never once got a weekend deposit on my Money Network card. The system is pretty rigid about business days only. Your best bet is always to plan for Tuesday/Wednesday deposits if you file on Sunday/Monday. It's frustrating when you're in a tight spot like this, but at least your landlord is being understanding! That's honestly the best outcome you could hope for in this situation.
o yeah i forgot to mention when i had my hearing the employer didnt even have any proof of the misconduct they claimed. the ref asked them for documentation and they just had like one writeup from months b4 i was fired that had nothing to do with why they fired me. if ur employer is lying they probably dont have good records to back it up
I'm going through this exact same situation right now! Filed my appeal about 2 weeks ago and still waiting to hear back. Reading all these responses is both helpful and terrifying - some people waited 3 weeks, others waited 11 weeks?! One thing I'm wondering about - should I be gathering character references from coworkers who can vouch that I wasn't fired for misconduct? Or is that overkill? I have a few former colleagues who would be willing to write statements or even testify if needed. Also, has anyone had success reaching out to their state representative's office for help with UC issues? I heard they sometimes have staff who can help expedite things or at least get answers when you can't reach anyone directly. The stress of potentially owing thousands back is really getting to me, especially since I know I did nothing wrong. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences - it helps to know I'm not alone in this mess!
Character references from coworkers can definitely help your case! I'd suggest getting written statements rather than having them testify live - it's easier for everyone and just as effective. Keep them brief and focused on your work ethic and professionalism. As for contacting your state rep's office, I haven't tried that myself but I've heard mixed results. Some people say it helped them get through to UC faster, others said it didn't make much difference. Might be worth a shot if you're really stuck waiting though. The waiting is honestly the worst part - try to stay positive! From what I'm reading here, it sounds like employers often can't back up their misconduct claims when it comes to the actual hearing.

To update everyone, I just checked the PA Department of Revenue website and they're reporting an average 24-day processing time from the date you receive that message. They're also saying that returns filed after April 15, 2025 (even with extensions) are taking longer - about 30-35 days on average. If it's been more than 6 weeks, you should definitely call them at 717-787-8201.

•Thank you for the update and the phone number! I filed in early March so hopefully I'm in the normal processing window. I'll give it another week before calling.

I'm in a similar situation - filed my PA return about 4 weeks ago and got that processing message last week. It's so stressful waiting when you're relying on that money! From what everyone is saying here, it sounds like anywhere from 3-6 weeks is normal. I've been checking my bank account obsessively every morning. Hopefully we both get our refunds soon! At least the UC payments are something, even if they don't cover everything with how expensive everything has gotten.
