What time do the unemployment office close - need to visit NYS Department of Labor today
Does anyone know what time the local unemployment offices close? I need to drop off some paperwork for my claim today but can't find the hours anywhere online. The my.ny.gov website doesn't seem to have this info and I don't want to drive there if they're already closed. Also do they close for lunch or anything like that?

Most NYS Department of Labor offices close at 4:30 PM on weekdays. Some locations might close earlier on Fridays though. You should call ahead because hours can vary by location and they sometimes close unexpectedly for staff meetings.

•Thanks! Do you know if they're open during lunch hours or do they close from like 12-1?

FYI you can file most unemployment paperwork online through my.ny.gov now. Unless you need to appeal a disqualification or submit specific documents for adjudication, you probably don't need to visit in person. The online system is available 24/7 except for maintenance windows.

•I tried uploading my documents online but the system keeps giving me an error. That's why I need to go in person.

•I had that same upload error last month! Turns out I was trying to upload files that were too large. The system only accepts files under 5MB. If that doesn't work, you might need to call the NYS Department of Labor tech support line, though good luck getting through - I've been trying for weeks to reach someone about my adjudication status. Actually, someone mentioned a service called Claimyr that helps you get through to actual agents. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works.

Why are you even bothering with the physical office??? Everything should be online these days. The NYS Department of Labor is so behind the times it's ridiculous. I've been dealing with an overpayment notice for months and can't get anyone to explain why they think I owe them $2,800.

Just wanted to say thanks for asking this - I was wondering the same thing about office hours!
