What time does the unemployment office close for in-person visits?

I need to go to the NYS Department of Labor office in person to sort out some issues with my claim but I can't find consistent hours online. Some websites say 4:30pm, others say 5pm. Does anyone know what time they actually close? I work until 4pm so I'm hoping I can make it there before they shut down for the day. Also wondering if all locations have the same hours or if it varies by office.

Most NYS Department of Labor offices close at 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Some locations might stay open until 5pm but that's not common. I'd call ahead to confirm because they sometimes close early for training or staff meetings. Also heads up - a lot of stuff can be done online through your my.ny.gov account now so you might not even need to go in person.

Thanks! I tried doing it online but my claim is stuck in adjudication and the website just says to contact them. Guess I'll have to rush over there right after work.

4:30 is correct for most offices but honestly you're probably wasting your time going in person. The wait times are insane and they'll just tell you to call the phone number anyway. I sat there for 3 hours last month only to be told they couldn't help with adjudication issues at the local office.

This is so frustrating! Why even have physical offices if they can't help with anything important? The phone lines are impossible to get through and now you're saying the offices are useless too?

If you're having trouble reaching someone at NYS Department of Labor by phone, I recently discovered this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helps you get through to an actual agent. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Might be easier than trying to rush to the office after work, especially since most claim issues need to be handled by phone agents anyway.

Never heard of that before. Is it legit? I'm desperate at this point because my adjudication has been pending for weeks.

Yeah it's legitimate, they just help you navigate the phone system to reach an actual person. Way better than spending hours on hold or driving to an office that might not even be able to help.
